Anybody know anything about forming a Stetson yourself?

I bought the thing before I went to Iraq and paid someone to form it... wrong. Now I've moved further away from Ft. Knox and just want to fix it myself. Every google search I've done comes back with sales sites for preformed Stetsons. Anybody ever done this before or have any tips? I'm rapidly approaching being screwed and having to drive way down to the Knox area again. Someone save me some gas money.

sure, easy, just use hot steam, I used a tea kettle once, and a vaporizer with just water in it another time.. As the area you want to shape gets hot and slightly moist, it is easy to shape it, let it cool for a minute or two afterwords and it stays. Just don't try to do too much at once. in other words block it first (sides, one at a time) then dip it (front then back). The nice thing is, if you don't get it exactly how you want it, just repeat the process. Word of caution, don't get it too hot, a little practice an you will get it.
