Please don't include either of the other two answer. Never make it anywhere beside being unlawful for them to have. Anything reminds of home. Christmas music, cutout of trees and ornaments they can place around and always homemade cookies really hit the spot, it sounds weird but buy Christmas sprinkling stuff and when they open the box it falls on them sound silly but I had a great time gettting a box like that when I was in saudi, |

hiya, my boyfriend is in Iraq at the moment, and I have just sent him an advent calendar! I was going to send his christmas pressies out but he is coming home for christmas now. I was going to send him some boxers (as thats what he asked for) I don't know what else is small enough to send.
How about a nice photo of the two of you?! X |

There are several websites that have adopt a soldier programs that might be useful for you to check out. They have lists online for things that the people are asking for.

I would suggest current magazines, DVDs, mix CDs that you have made, hand sanitizer, lotion, personal care products, any snacks that you'd put in a lunchbox, etc.
Plus, write a letter or a card. |

I send travel sized versions of games, like battle ship, backgammon, cribbage, etc. Candies, books & magazines (I've gotten good responses on mags re: Guns & Ammo, Maxim, Paitball, Surfer, GQ), disposable cameras, water guns and puzzles, anything to play with - the idea is for them to be able to distract themselves and have a good time for a little while, beanie hats & gloves, and a letter. Tell them about yourself and how things are at home.
PS. you're doing a good thing! |

Probably best not to send girly mags, wet wipes, toothpaste, boiled sweets (wrapped, so they don't all stick together)rather than choccy (it will melt), cooling foot spray, disposable razors, nice new toothbrush, some good tea bags, coffee sachets, couple of pairs of socks, little individual Christmas cake or a whole small one, lip balm, hair gel (yes some of them are still vain!) fairly mundane stuff really, it means a lot to get stuff we wouldn't normally think twice about! You can pack quite a bit into one box! Just stuff they might miss really. I know my hubby, before I met him was pretty overwhelmed by a fruitcake someone baked and sent! Put a note in too, handwritten rather than printed out! Oh yes moisturiser and shampoo. They'll all swap if a girl or guy gets it, so anything really but I would steer clear of girls or guys mags - they do sometimes get censored, just because of where they are. |

lots of little things that are a taste of home. try to think of the things he is fond of that aren't available. when i was a child i sent my half brother 'who was serving in Aden some seeds from the aqualiga( that's probably not the right spelling) that grew by the gate in the front garden. he planted them and actually brought the plants home the following year. he told me that even he's co smiled every time he walked passed the plants. ( dunno if that were true) but you get the gist. |

Anything you think will make them smile!!
we sent our son:
a chocolate santa, small bags of sweets for variety, 2 racing grannies, a santa hat, decorations that stick on windows, make your own xmas cards sets, a set of darts with a picture of Des Browne, a dvd with xmas greetings from the family, a home made fruit cake from his granny (although that did the rounds so we've had to send another) and pumice stones 'cos they tend to get excess hard skin on their feet with tabbing. |
