Anyone here agree that the SAS are Badass, very tough, and very cool?

I belive the SAS are Badass, very tough, and very cool!I think they go in the list as top five best special forces in the world! They are so badass and tough!By the way,I`m an American who respects the SAS a lot. Here in America,American Marines are considered the toughest soldiers in the world.Yeah right! Most Americans(not including me) keep saying that the SAS are wimps and that Marines will kill them in less than 15 seconds!I don`t believe it!SAS are way tougher, badasser, and cooler than even the best of the Marines! When will the people of my country,America, learn to respect them? The SAS are just one of the toughest, best, and coolest special forces units in the world!

The SAS soldiers are picked from the Royal Marine Commandos (very tough) and the Parachute Regiment (very tough too).
Only the best soldiers from those regiments get through the selection training for the SAS. Only 5 in every 100 from the Marines and Paras get in so it is fair to say that the SAS are by far the toughest soldiers in the world.
The final test for SAS training consists of running 50 miles over mountains while carrying 100 pound packs. This has to be completed in 6 hours or they fail to pass selection.
The SAS are acknowledged to be the most highly trained special forces in the world. They are also considered to be the most specialised anti-terrorist force of any armed forces in the world.
The American Marines are only similar to the Paras or Royal Marines. They are conventional armed forces and are not as such true special forces. |

A typical american 'gung-ho' ?question? from an armchair 'warrior'.
SAS soldiers are all volunteers but just volunteering does not get you into the unit. There is an extremely rigorous selection process and training programme, and failure at any time means almost certain Return to Unit.
Selection and training ensures that all members are fit and equipped with the necessary knowledge to carry out the various tasks allotted to them.
They usually maintain a low profile in public and generally shun the limelight as it can be detrimental to their own security.
I very much doubt that any operation in which they may be employed would ever have an embedded journalist!!!!! unlike the publicity hungry Americans. |

I will simply say that I know a young man in this regiment. And yes he's very tough and very cool. You would not look at him twice when he walks down the street in civvies.
And contrary to popular belief on this site he DID NOT come from the Marines or Para's. The SAS can come from any unit within HM Forces. |

British army chefs basic training is longer than the US Marine Corps basic training never mind our infantry which is 6 months long so straight away marines aren't as highly trained as the average British infantry soldier then trust me getting in the SAS is unbelievably tough. pumping iron and being able to shoot m60's from the hip does not mean you are going to take out any British army soldier. anyway they would probably kill half there own troops before they Evan get to us... also when i was in Germany the American troops were given a card on the card it says...."don't gamble with the British
don't drink with the British
don't fight with the British
because you will lose"
joining the SAS is not about being cool and bad *** its about being the best of the best but not shouting to the world about it. who need s strength through superior firepower just a 4 man patrol good intelligence and the best training in the world
but the Americans do have better equipment |

this is a dumb question and you used the word badasser, which doesn't exist.
Yes i agree they are tough, i dont know any, but from hearsay i agree.
Dont forget SEALS, they are considered pretty damn tough too in America if not tougher |

we already know all this,we dont bother trying to prove it one way or the other, you americans give us jobs to do that your special forces cannot handle(gulf war, scuds)come to mind and we just go and do it and come back for tea,so yes, your right, you know the old saying,(if in doubt, call us out),it still applies and while you sing the praises of the SAS do not forget their waterborne comrades the SBS without whom the SAS would get wet feet, another old saying for you with regards to the SBS(hard to bluff and twice as tough), |

"who dares wins" is their motto. They are tough and extremely well thought of within the various special forces around the world. They were formed during WW2 to operate behind enemy lines. |
