Hello there
I am the surfer!

Revolutionary war against Britain
No one had out - produced the industrial military product since 1812!

The second war of independence against England in 1812, England burned the House, there was only white paint so the name White House

Wars against the natives, the government won!

Civil war the north won versus the south

The spanish american war : the us got familiar with doing several battles

The war against Pancho Villa a loss, Pancho Villa like today osama was not found

World war one : too litle too late, fresh american troops were badly needed to replace exausted french and british troops, even more considering the fall of russia the outcome the us military became familiar with nerve gas, military aviation , submarine and anti submarine weapons and navy convoy tactics , trench warfare and attrition!

World war 2 the big western winner! the expansion of us armed forces, the role of justice and freedom provider, the cause of the big brother of the west, the expansion of the industrial military complex and so on !

Berlin crisis and airlift no shooting or combat but the air lift effort was war equivalent it was a show of confidence and the first demostration of us resolve against soviet russia

Korea 1950 - 1953 mixed outcome, a victory , a tie and a loss
A victory if the immediate objective was to save south korea from the north then way great south korea was saved, a loss, if the objective was to make red china white then a loss, stalmate, neither side was able to impose his political system to the other casualties 950,000 men dead and wounded fro China, North korea 750,000 dead and wounded and the us only 50, 000 within three years! so korea was more destructive or intense than the whole vietnam that had 58, 000 dead and wounded within 10 years! outcome the us had to re learn how to do war with out nuclear supremacy and against a 3rd world army that had several chances to win!, no mayor navy battles amd the outcome of jet aviation!

The cuban misile crisis there was no war but open declared tension that was excellent handled the soviet navy got kick you know were!

Vietnam total failure 10 years, 58, 000 dead and wounded, more than 6 millions of air bombs and a blunder!

Gulf war: a tactical victory and startegic loss the us recover kwait independence and restore the balance of powwer, yet sadam was still running iraq, so it was like Meade after Gettysiburg!

Somalia a blunder October 93
Yugoslavia : a lack of full resolve!
Today iraq a quaqmire so as afghanistan

Relevat facts the us experience of war has expanded the industrial military complex , thecnology alone does not guarantee victory and the us does not got the stomach for human cassualties! look after england at world war one or russia and world war 2
with war the us got a bigger navy a large army and the most powerful aviation ! also the us got the largest espionage system and lots of money devoted to war instead of housing, employment and the like

A new system of alliances with england, europe and nato!
Crooked deals with drug dealers since world war 2 , korea and vietnam , so deals with terrorist like Osama bin Laden during the 80´s alliances with dictaors from south america, central america , iran, iraq and the like!
the over throw and cup détat as regular practice to preserve and change in favor the balance of power! and assasination as a regular tool of us foreign policy!

Other big battles the us could not do for lack of stomach fro human cassualties based on the fact that clinton lost 19 men in somalia and run like a wussy : Somme world war one 60,000 british dead in one day, Borodino : 30,000 french and 40,000 russians dead in one day , stalingad 750,000 soviet dead men within 6 months, Gettysburtg 50,000 cassualties within a 3 day period Somalia 19 dead and Clinton pull out ! why ? because it was and still is the believe that technology alone can win wars vietnam 58,000 dead and wounded within 10 years and it was a curse !
look at israel : within 50 years they have seen more war than the us from a 100 year period1 and they always win!

From the surfer!

Define success man? Was their one clear winner in the terms of how wars are viewed? Where the ideas fought in the wars carrier on like their originator wanted? Did America as a whole benefit from them?

Everything their is pretty subjective, while others here may say we where successful, others will have plenty of good arguments as to why we didn't.

Why not try writing your paper on whether American wars were a necessity, this will lead you to think hard and deep about the country you live in as well as the many you know little about.

Good luck either way

Tom
Revolutionary War - Success with help
War of 1812 - stalemate
Mexican War - Success
Civil War - Success (for the North)
Spanish American War - Success
WW1 - Success but they played their part just like everyone else
WW2 - Success but they played their part just like everyone else, and only joined a few years into it
Korean War - stalemate
Vietnam War - lost
1991 Gulf War - Success
War in Iraq - Arguably a success but barely and had lots of help
War in Afghanistan - Well we're not winning or loosing.

I think it is a consensus that the Revolutionary War, WWI, and WWII were successful.

All the others wars are debatable.
