From the many polls in the Army Times, it usually shows about 40-50% Republican, about 20-30% Democrat, the rest are independent with a strong leaning toward Libertarian.
About 60%-70% identify conservative. Less then 10% identified themselves as liberal, the rest claimed moderate.
This poll seems to get done a couple times a year by the Military Times, especially around elections.
And the Army Times is not run by the military, it is a private newspaper. Soldier's Magazine is the Army's official publication. |

I have seen anecdotal evidence that most service people are conservative. Robert Kaplan said Rush Limbaugh was popular in the military. |

Well I can speak for most of the Special Forces 7th Group....
Republican!!!! And not big fans of Obama.
And Joe can kiss my ***. My boyfriend is Special damn Forces and has an IQ of 170.. Republican, and more of an American Joe could every dream to be. |

I am seen as a liberal by a lot of people, but I love shooting and have a lot of seemingly Republican beliefs. But at the same time I couldn't get myself to vote for Mccain. Palin showed how terrible at judging things he was. did he seriously think it was a good idea to pick her? |

Seeing as a libertarian received the most donations from the soldiers in the '08 race I'd say they were just that, LIBERTARIAN. |

The one's who die are republicans (poorly educated and religious - they believe people will remember them after they decay). The one's who run the military at the top levels and don't die are democrats. |
