Robots? I know we appear that way, but we are trained to efficient and effective. Being trained this way causes us to be very focused and driven to achieve our goal. I know this makes us seem a little strange and often times brainwashed. However, this behavior makes us successful and keeps us alive.

No, I worked with a bunch of Marines, cool guys. Anyone can be turned into a Pavlovian dog when faced with unbelievable pain and torture. They go through a lot, just like martial artists. Go call a Marine a chump and you'll feel a fraction of the pain he felt in bootcamp.

People such as this just need attention, if we stop giving it to them they will stop. Sort of like a child who keeps touching something after being told not to. Even negative attention is good to some people.

So I think you should stand outside your closest Marine Base during police shift change and ask your question to those emerging from the gates.

I am a Veteran, I engage in good natured interservice ball breaking but I respect Marines as America's only other boots on the ground WarFighters.

I do not respect cowardly folk who hide behind a computer and berates others especially Soldiers.

I personally know several marines who are not "robots." It is an unfair and unjust statement and one that inaccurately portrays the U.S. Military. More an more information is being disseminated at the lowest levels of combat due to the increased prevalence of information technology. Therefore more decisions are made by lower ranking officers, and consequently less are being brainwashed and instead taught how to make competent decisions based on situational analysis. If you think they are a bunch of "chumps" for being so easily turned into robots then maybe you should question society today as a whole. We are all robots when it comes to consumerism and trends. Media propagates this through commercials, television and movies that-believe it or not-influence us in ways that are both conscious and subconscious. To that end, it is no stretch to say that due to the high levels of input (via T.V., movies, music and other sense-filling drivel) we ourselves are rapidly becoming slaves to large corporations who abuse our subconscious for profits. Unfortunate, but true.

Could you really say this to a Marine's face?

The U.S. military is deliberately set up so that the armed forces' job is not to make policy, but to follow the orders of our Commander in Chief and Congress. ( Congress has the right to establish military budgets and declare war). This design prevents military coups. Whether you are democrat, republican, libertarian or green, you want the military set up this way. Otherwise, our government would be very unstable.

Because of this fact, it is counter-productive to criticize soldiers concerning military policies and practices that you disagree with. If you disagree with what the military is doing, go after the politicians that set these policies. None of them are currently hiding their position on the war right about now.

If you are so curious about what Marine's are than get your *** down to the recruiters office and sign on the dotted line. Within weeks you will be in the center of another universe learning only what Marines know and knowing what it's like to be one of the few and the proud who will stand up against anything that threatens our nation - no matter what the cost.
You live under an umbrella of freedom that some people are willing to die for and I would rather you start thinking about that - and the next time you want to post something here, why don't you try thanking the Veterans for their love of this Country and what it stands for and for your right to sit at a computer and talk sh_ t.

I would say that a human turning into a robot is not too easy...therefore I would say that a "chump" could not accomplish this task only a "real man" can. Proud to be American and thank-you to all the American Marines putting their lives on the front lines to keep myself and my three little girls safe from terrorists....xoxoxo

It is done by design and they sink a lot of time and money into making them "robots" so I would say itâ€™s not done easily. Plus we have a volunteer army so most of the people who go to the marines go willing to be ordered around. Those who go and push at the system will be pushed back until they are broken. The human psyche was made to break under extreme situations and stress as a survival mechanism and we are able to adopt totally different lifestyles easily.

I wish they were robots, they are hit men that are getting paid to kill. these killers, rapists, cold blooded murderers will come back back to the U.S one day!! do you think they will press a bottom and switch back to human beings? i don't think so!! I hope the U.S will always be at war so these blood thirsty men and women won't walk around our streets.

It is not just the Marines. It is all the military sectors. They go through a rigorous brainwashing routine that turns them into people that can only take and execute commands.
