They are brainwashed to think their fighting for their country. It's just part of the scheme of new world order. If people step back and look at war for what it "really" is they would be stupidly ashamed for supporting it. They are fighting and dying for elite family's that run our world. Most people live their lives with their eyes wide shut!

EDIT: let's keep in mind that we have a volunteer military and there is no soldier enlisted today that wasn't full aware that we are at war at the time they signed up or reenlisted. That whole "sending our sons and daughters to die" is a load of bull-snot... as if they are an ignorant bunch of cave-men. How dare anybody discredit them in such a way. Sometimes I think that Americans don't deserve such a courageous group of men and women as we have in our armed forces to defend and protect humanity.

As a United States veteran I am appalled at the ignorance of some of these answers. If you people thought that you live your pretty little lives because nobody fought for you.. then think again. Stick your heads in the sand and pretend you will be fine. How quickly people forget 9/11! Glad I don't have to depend on you for my freedom.

Depends on what the objective of the war is. Some recent wars have been pointless I suppose, but in the hearts of the soldiers, they faught for their country.

Regardless, anybody who dies in war deserves to be remembered as a hero.

THEY ARE DYING FOR TO PROTECT YOUR FREEDOM!!!!! If there was no one over there fighting, then the Americans would be upset about that!!! I was in the Army for 8 years, and I deployed. My husband was in for 12 and deployed 3 times. Neither one of us regret it and we went through alot because of the distance. My husband missed out on so much of our childrens lives and he does not regret it at all because that is what he signed up to do. you don't join the Army for the money BECAUSE THERE IS NO MONEY!!!! The Army pays less than most employers. Do you honestly think Bush would send troop over there just so they could die????Seriously??? And it is not just him but the whole cabiniet that makes decisions. And don't think that if Hilary or Obama makes presidency that we won't pull out of the war...We CAN'T .... the taliban is just too strong...

Dear Shar, as I vet of course I agree with you. If your average post here is any indication of the direction of the country....pal, we're in deep ****!!! Keep your powder dry! Oprah will probibly be our next foreign policy strategist. I'm an old fart(gettin' "short" in life)...but I fear for my kids. Most of my kids went thru this lunacy and came out the other end a bit more sensible, but.......I'm not sure we have enough Americans left with the fortitude to defend New Jersey much less help anyone else!

Maybe you should ask the people who fight for our country. THe men and women who are away from their families instead of civilians who don't go through what they do. Even as military families we feel angry at our government at times. But all in all i feel that our Military and the people who are losing their lives are doing so for both.

Yes, and yes. They may be dying for their country and their leaders, but they fight to live for the bonuses and college money. Don't listen to that dogmatic 'Samurai code of honor' horse s**t; without bennies such as the GI Bill and free health care, recruiters would be bored out of their gourds playing solitaire all day while the front doors to their offices are blocked off by tumbleweeds.
