Are there any Armed Forces jobs that you don't get deployed?

My husbands thinking about it... but doesn't wanna be away from family

If he doesn't want to be away from family then don't join the military. Every job in the military has the possibility of being deployed at sometimes in their career. The Navy goes out to sea for months as well as land locations, the Marines & Army go to places like Iraq & Afghanistan, even the Air Force goes to places like that.

everyone has a chance of being deployed
if he wants a job where he can be with his family all the time and never deploy
i highly recommend a civilian job

I am not trying to be mean, just honest, if he can't be away from his family, than the military is not for him. Everyone deploys at some point, and if they don't, they have some good connections.

Your husband needs to find a different career choice. None of us WANT to be away from family and friends, but we give that up when we join.
So in other words, he wants all the benefits, perks and comforts of a military career, but doesn't want the same duties and responsibilities as other service members shoulder.
The military isn't for him!

Absolutely not. Every job in the military has the possibility of being deployed. There are some with a very low possibility but they are few.

You go where the military believes there is a need.

as a military wife i can tell you there is no such thing BUT you are on a rotation meaning if you do your time getting deployed (say 3 years...not all at once) you are eligible for a few years of maybe being a recruiter or an instructor at a school where you wont have to be deployed. but the answer is no.

Like everyone else has said, there's always the chance of being deployed, so it's a risk you'll have to be prepared to take. Also, there's the chance of him being stationed somewhere accompanied tours (where you and the kids accompany him to his duty station) aren't done, like Korea. There are no guarantees that you'll always be together.

Something you should know is every job has a good chance of getting deployed, I'm not sure about the other services but the Marine Corps tries to make sure everyone goes. With that said I'll say there are certain jobs that just don't go very often or don't go at all. I have a few friends who were in for four years and never went. Videographers generally don't get deployed often. They cost a lot of money to train and there isn't a high demand for them. Reservists, while they are deployed sometimes, we are trying to slow deployments of reservists. Check with your local recruiter he'll be able to fill you in better.

If you are worried about getting deployed then you do not belong in the military.

Even recruiting is not a sure thing as some of the military branches are asking recruiters to change MOSs so that they can BE deployed. (At least that is what is going on in my area, with my branch).

I recommend a job with the government. Not necessarily the military. If he can land one (i.e. he has a clean criminal record, can pass a drug test, relatively ok credit, some college or at LEAST high school education), a government job will offer fairly good security, good benefits, and opportunities for advancement.

the closest to home would be the Coast Guard but they get to deplyed to different areas of the country

Why join the Armed Forces if not willing to self-sacrifice? Not very appealing!

Well there always being a recruiter

Um... Drill Sergeant and Recruiter but those are non-entry level positions. The military deploys. The end. Have fun with the civilian job market.

If he doesn't want to serve his country wherever the country needs him, he doesn't need to join. McDonalds is always hiring.
