I want to sign a 11x (infantry) as well as airborne...i am athletic i used to play basketball and run track and all but ive put on abt 30 pounds since high school which im working on getting off and dont know if ill be in shape in time

The con is that if you fail out of RASP you get sent to a regular infantry unit and loose your chance to go the Regiment. You can always apply to try again in the future but there's no guarantee you will be able to try out again too soon. |

Unless you're absolutely serious about it and go in beating the stated standards, I would lay off and leave the spot for someone who has adequately prepared. That huge wash out rate is, in part, attributable to the fact that people are not 100% prepared for the challenge when they get there. I'd say either bust your a** and get in shape or leave the spot for someone who will step up. |
