if so whats it called i saw something like it on future weapons but i forgot the name

Theyve got lots of weapons like this. M4s with a higher caliber and gas piston, Aks with smaller calibers. Theres tons out there.

There is the Barrett REC7 which is basically an improved M4A1 with a higher caliber to better match the stopping power of the AK47, but I don't know if it is what you are specifically referring to.

i doubt it
ak is cheap and clunky and works
m4 is relatively precision and requires different maintenance culture
both have similar range and usefulness
so you would be carrying two different kinds of ammo, 2 different maintenance programs, to achieve the same tactical end
