Are u allowed to have a cell phone in basic training in the air force?

I graduated in 2002. What they do the first day is take all your personal belongings and lock them in a closet. You are not allowed access to anything in this closet until the night after your town pass (right before you are going to leave.) The time you leave for tech school is dependant on your job (which tech school you go to.) You will leave the day after your town pass at anytime between 0001-0800. This means that if you take a cell phone and leave it in your personal baggage you may have access to it for a couple hours before you leave. You will have a small area in the wall locker to keep personal photos and medication but you will not be allowed to keep your cell phone. It also may take up to a week for you to get the ability to call home so let your family know they might not hear from you right away. Best tip ever: take a digital watch (sport type, black) with an alarm so you can wake up about 10 minutes before revellie.

anything you bring that is electronic besides a watch will be taken adn locked up until you graduate

My husband wasn't allowed to have his phone at basic. It was given back to him the day after he graduated for basic. I think a lot of it depends on what your TI says.

In my basic training flight, we were allowed to keep our phones, the catch was that they took the batteries out and locked them up. Something with people complaining that they didn't get their phones back or something prompted them to do that. So if you can sneak in a spare battery....like some did...you can actually use your phone. VERY RISKY though. Just some food for thought. Couple of people in my flight got the heads up and knew about it, but I wouldn't be one of the ones to risk it. Besides that, you will be able to make a few phone calls if your flight is good on the pay phones outside.

You are not allowed any such luxuries in any boot training. If you do bring a cell phone it will be confiscated and you will only get to use it at your DIs leisure and that would probably not be until the very end of your boot training. How do you expect to be an asset to the civil liberty of the United States if you're yakking with your teeny bopper buddy 500 miles away. It's no question the youth of today don't have any concern for anything, but themselves. Rest assured though if you are in the field you will get to use a cell phone. You'll want to be able to communicate with your family which may be all you will get to do other than insuring yourself and your unit are secure from harm by the enemy.

You keep the phone in your luggage, and your ti takes the battery and locks it up. You get it back after graduation.
