Are we winning this war on terror?

Tony Blair defintely needs to stop sending our troops. My husband has been in Afghanistan for 2 weeks out of a 3 month tour.
I think we are fighting a losing battle.
What I don't get is that our country is so small yet we get ionvolved in every war with every country going!!!
I say send Tony Blair over there to fight with our boys on the front line, he might change his policies then!!

We Can never win against a hidden enemy. Asian or Muslim people are the biggest target. terrorist hide away into the background and slide into the lives of these communities where we dont realise they exist. To assume they are all involved is both neive and disrespectful to the millions of genuine Mulsum in the World. Although there religion is based on false promises and Irrnashnal thought it controls many peoples lives and encourages good behaviour which is missing in the west. These Asian that have moved to England have developed western cultures and picked up too many bad experiences, one major one is retalisation. And this is part of the problem. Many years ago this war would not have happened, families would be able to control there children, and respect for different communities would not be great but it would be tolereated.That sentence is a total lie.
Who are we fighting? Who supplies the weapons, how many wars do we know about that our governement has supplied weapons and helped in the genecide of many different Cultures. Why do they stand back and watch small countries in Africa with little Natural resources, and on the poverty line, except when some ageing pop star make a song and dance about it.Literally.
I believe this war will not end. Why should America contol the world, people are allowed freedom, and if that freedom gives them the opportunity to be violent thats a consequence we all have to face. If they try and control everyone then there would be an uprising. Lets be clear hear they do control us, within reason. How fast we drive, what we can do, the ciriculm in all schools, which defies our opinions on other countries. Such as Germany and the War, Why did we never learn abour the Millions the British killed in India, or America, or Australia or Ireland etc. Why hide the truth because it hurts. Peoples opinion will change and the consequences can be extreme, such as the London Bombings. Those people who join extremist organisations have been driven into those socities because of a visible forseeable driving force which has changed their opinion to the extreme.

The war on terror up till this moment has been disastrous and all the wrong decisions seem to get made all the time (sending a fraction of the soldiers needed to do the job in Afghanistan. Apparently the Taliban have an endless supply of new recruits and use heroin distribution to deliberately corrupt western society so that county alone is a major headache. Now we have North Korea as the ninth nuclear power and the absolute chaos in Iraq.

Until we start electing some people who have the brains to understand the gravity of the situation in our times things are going to get worse before they get better.

There is no such thing as a war on terror. Terror is merely an act of terrorising and causing fear in another. Religions and governments have been doing this for centuries, as well as the common bandit that shoots and loots for personal gain or fun.

I feel for our troops and the innocents as well. What is it going to take for us to be willing to die fighting against them, the terrorists that haunts our streets and schools and those that plague us with disease and guns? If we start our own war on terrorism in our own backyards, then maybe our governments will realise what a real war on terror is and begin to do the right thing.

Land wars are very tough to fight in any country against the people who reside there. Hopefully, we will avoid future attacks here in the USA.

Certainly we're winning the war on terror. You have to consider that all those " wars " , war on drugs, war on poverty, war on whatever comes to mind, are not wars. A war is a declaired conflict between nations. The areas of conflict are well defined. All combatants are in the uniform of their nation.
Since we have taken the battle to Iraq ( the training grounds and financier, and supporter of terrorists ) we have had no attacks here in America.
Almost all of the killing going on now is Muslim against Muslim.All involved are asking America to stay or else civil war will break out, dragging most of the Muslim nations in.
So again, war against terrorism is only an expression, not a real war. They have no central command, no real organization, therefore there is no one to sign an agreement to end the conflict.

i wouldnt even call it a war really its more like a turkey shoot i think if the mentals stopped letting off car bombs and cutting the heads off westerners we would of moved out a year ago but now its become a matter of if they come out everyones gonna go say look what you did to our country and then walked away,half the problem is we have to go by the geneva convention these people dont and they have no care of there own being there happy to blow them selves up or get shot to pieces because thyve been brain washed into thinking there going to paradise lol just shows if you live in those sort of conditions and arcayic lifestyles youll beleive anything ,but hey if some country invaded us then i might feel the same but then if i knew they were coming to help me and my country i might feel quite happy they are there,but to be honest its a political knightmare and there isnt reall an answer to your question because theres no way you can tell because it will probably go on forever .

It doesn't make sense to have a war on terror. It's like having a war on meanness or a war against jealousy.

Countries have the right to arrest those who break the law in their own jurisdiction but I don't see why we and the Americans are murdering innocent people in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Surely the sensible thing to do is to license Afghanistan for the production of medical opium (there is a shortage) and allow the farmers there to grow opium poppies again.

No, of course not. Al Qaeda's main supporters were Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. And we let all 3 of them off with nothing worse than slaps on the wrist. While wasting all our diplomatic capital on nation-building in Afghanistan - a useless exercise once we had wiped out Al Qaeda there - and an even more pointless invasion of Iraq.

Hi,I agree with u 100%. Really what is the purpose of our troops(Both Canadians and Americans) being over there. Just a waste of life,The same thing was happening in Vietman in the sixties until the people rallied in the streets to demand our troops be brought back home. Looks like thesame thing needs to happen again. After all r we not soppose to live in democratic countries. Shouldnt what the people want be what is enforced. THAT IS WHAT IS DEMOCRATIC. Taking it to the streets. Organize and march

No. If anything it's getting worse. The populations of these countries are uniting against what they see as the common enemy - foreigners. We can't win this war by moving into countries where we don't like the politics. Education is the only way forward.
