just about every person in the military I know has tattoos... myself included.
you can have them pretty much anywhere now (depending on branch) but without a waiver you cannot have tattoos from your wrists to your fingers, or from the collarbone up. For females, unless you always want to wear pants in dress uniform, none from the knees down. |

Anywhere but the face and neck. |

Of course you are. Check the regs as to the size, location and restrictions on type of tattoos. |

Yes, all services will allow tattoo's. They have to be able to be covered and no gang or racist tattoo's |

Yes---
But they can't be in a place that shows while wearing the Uniform--some units are very strict--others are more lenient.
Whatever you do--don't get a Tat that says AIRBORNE on it before you go to JUMP school--because the Black hats will make sure you don't PASS if they see it. YOUR LIFE WILL BE HELL! |

Yes, but they can not be gang related, morally objectionable, and can't be seen when wearing your uniform, so none on the face, neck, hands. You might want to go to goarmy.com and see if there is a listing for the regulations.
Good Luck
Vet-USAF / have many custom Tats |

they got rid of the rule - you have have them on places like your arms, hands and neck. As long as it isnt indecent. My husband is working on his sleeves |

A recruiter told my nephew "YES" provided they are not obscene. He was instructed to put bikini bathing suit on the lil' miss on his arm. |

Unfortunately you guys are wrong. There are now recruits who have tats that show on their hands/neck. It's part of the recruitment waivers. Since the army was hurting for recruits, they began to allow many people through with waivers. |

Of course you can.
Tattoos are very much a military tradition. However different countries have different regs about size / location etc.
I joined the Royal Marines with Tatt's on my kneck that are visible even in uniform, and I served with a guy with a full face Tattoo.
The only thing you have to remember is that some Tattoo's may disqualify you from serving with some more specialized units. |

Head and Neck. Any Tattoo(s) which is/are visible above the collar-line of a CS95 shirt will be a bar to joining or re-joining.
Hands. Any Tattoo which is/are visible, on either side of the hands, below what we might describe as the ‘watch strap ’or‘bracelet line may be a bar to joining or re-joining.
Arms and legs. Non-offensive tattoos visible on the arms and legs will not normally be a barrier to joining.
Non-Visible Area. You are to be made aware that during the selection process a full medical will be conducted and therefore any undeclared tattoo(s) will become visible, particularly those that are offensive, obscene or racist and will prevent joining or rejoining. |

You can have them, but they can't be on show when you're wearing your uniform - so hands, face and neck are ruled out. I don't think you're allowed them if they're particularly offensive - you wouldn't be allowed a Swastika, for example. However, today waivers are frequent and you may well be allowed a visible one - although face is taking it a bit far.
When I got mine, I opted for the safest place - my bum. Now I have a beautiful laughing devil on the right side. |

Sure....these days, they're not going to pass on people for that. They're too desperate to recruit people. |
