I couldn't be more proud of my husband for serving in the Marines. He is an amazing man and it takes a real hero to fight in a war.

I am, and will always be proud of those who serve, past and present. Most recently my Brother-in-law just retired. That makes four retirees in my immediate families, plus three more veterans, not including cousins.

I retired a couple years ago after serving in the military for 20 years. I was back home visiting relatives and was staying the night with my mother and step-father. I had some DVDs with me and my laptop and offered to put in a movie that we could all watch. Oddly enough, we all decided on watching the movie: We Were Soldiers, an excellent movie about the air cav in Vietnam, starring Mel Gibson. After the movie was over, my mother started sobbing uncontrollably. After calming her down, I discovered that she served in the Women's Army Corps and had to leave the service when she became pregnant with me in 1964, before Vietnam really started getting nasty, but she felt guilt that she'd not been able to do more to serve our country. I'm extremely proud of her for that. In response to her story though, I replied: "It's okay mom, I served enough for both of us."

My daddy served 20, one of my big brothers' did 4(medically discharged, jacked his knee up pretty badly), my grandfather did, as did my mama's daddy.
My husband's been in 18.
I was adopted into the Navy life as a baby, never got out of it though. Even after my daddy retired, I missed it really bad even a decade later.

I'm fiercely proud of my family and my husband. I know that he's a 'lifer', he'll do much more than 20 years, and I dig the hell out of that! :)

If I had a child serving in the military, I would hope she/he would do the right thing. I would be more proud of her/him if he was a doctor or a nurse.
More pride for healing than for killing.

I am very proud of my husband retired 20 years in Coast Guard and my son 2 years in the Army now serving in Iraq. It really takes a special type of person to do what they have done. i admire then for their abilities and determination to serve the people and the country. God bless them all and bring them home swiftly and safely.

I am extremely proud of my 19 year old Marine, who is currently deployed to Iraq, as well as every other Marine, soldier, etc. To be able to stand up and defend what you believe in is a truly noble thing. The average age of the Marine/soldier serving in Iraq is 19-20, these are kids that are barely out of high school, yet they are on the other side of the world, away from their families, away from their comforts of home, doing something that most people couldn't do. They are not sitting on their butts, watching TV, playing video games, sleeping late, partying away daddy's money. They are working their butts off, long days, little sleep, not so great food, breathing and eating dust and sand. Yeah, I'd have to say that I'm pretty proud of all of them.
