Area info, ft. knox, kentucky...?

Well if you live on post your kids will go to DoDea schools. Depending on what housing area you live in they will go to one of a couple schools. The grades are divided up differently there. Pre K-3rd are considered Elementary and then 4-6 are considered Intermediate. 7th and 8th are Middle School then 9-12th are oh course high school. There are 4 Elementary schools and like I said it really will depend on what area you live in. My oldest went to the HS and loved it there. My two younger children went to several of the elementary schools and the intermediate schools because of housing moving us. They went to Peirce, Van Voorhis , Walker, and Macdonald while we lived there. They liked them and the staff was good. The only issue we had was the way the grades where set up and the fact that the kids had to change after only being there a year.

ETA: The ASK is not his actual orders it's just an assignment alert for the Soldier. He will get his actual orders towards the end of AIT but there is little to no chance of them changing . He will report to Knox and go to reception and they will assign him a unit from there, this is what they do for everyone without pinpoint orders (only those of certain rank/time in service get those). There are several old and several newer units that he could go into and it will all depend on what the needs of the post as when he reports. The best thing you and he can do is to NOT worry about what unit will will be for right now and just focus on dealing with the actual post info, housing, schools and getting the things you can control in place. The rest will be settled once you get there and find out what unit he's be with.

The USO and Red Cross and important ones to have, just in case. The others are military spouse sites. The commissary site has links to coupons and food help type stuff. Are you going to Fort Knox, or are you on orders to USAREC? If you are on Recruiting orders, they all say Fort Knox, because that is the headquarters, but you will not go there.

Ft. Knox is a nice area to live. We got orders for USAREC Headquarters about a month ago. We're going this summer & are very excited. We've been stuck in upstate NY for 10 yrs now :/ The housing seems ok now that they remodeled/rebuilt. Is your hubby in AIT?
