Your best bet is during AIT to call your branch manager and request assignment. Still it is no guarantee. The recruiter can't promise you anything you will have to deal with the MEPS counselor.

the only way i know of for you to get an assignment guarantee is for you to sign up for SF or ranger. of course you have to actually make it through the training for those (90% drop out rate for Non Prior Service), good luck.

I don't believe that you can be guaranteed to go to a certain base, however you know what they say about friends in high places.

you can go to the ask site through ako and see if there are places to be stationed that you like and they will send you possible positions in the requisitions area, other than that calling your branch manager and asking them not to send you to afghanistan is your best bet.

How far along are you in the process? If you taken the oath and sighed off on the paperwork got an MOS and a ship date your screwed. If your just starting the process, you might have a shot it depends on your MOS, and what the Army needs and where they need you.

You'll probably find a recruiter that will tell you yes but the answer is no.

Where you are based depends on what career you take on in the military and many other factors.

In the Army, if it ain't in writing, it don't exist.
