So we are getting ready to do an upcoming AWT/CTT training, and apparently I've been selected to run the thing...
I have almost no tactical knowledge.
One of the tasks is "actions at the halt" or "actions from the halt". I've looked in the CTT book pretty thoroughly, and I don't see it anywhere.
Am I stupid? Should I know what this is??? I mean, to me that sounds like Drill and Ceremony, but I know that's not right because this is CTT/AWT

This has nothing to do with D&C as you stated. Actions at the halt are those measures you take when you halt a tactical movement. Every unit has an easily memorized SOP dealing with this. It usually includes about five steps: Move off the trail left and right, take a knee facing outward, leaders move to the PL or CO, if in place longer than two minutes put out security, if in place longer than five minutes emplace claymores. You get the idea.
Do a search for small unit tactical SOP and see if you can find a check list you can instruct very quickly. Good luck! |

actions from the halt is D+C. its all of hte actions taht you can do from the hatled (or stopped) position. forms of attention, faces, etc. maybe its a typo or the person who wrote it used the wrong term?
maybe the person who wrote it doesnt know anything about combat or tactics and thought "well we walk to where we go, but what do we do when we're not walking?"...so he might be refering to perimeters or setting up hasties or something. thats my best guess is what to do when your taking a break or hunkering down somewhere. he could also be refering to analyzing OCOKAW (older version is OCOKA for those who want to correct me on this, W is for Weather). |
