Army basic training gas chamber (fort leonard wood)?

ok i leave may 19 for boot camp im nervous as is about being away from my family but more so of the gas chamber i have seen many videos of ppl going through it and then ppl telling storys about there time in it. what im wondering is how do they decide what you will do in the chamber(meaning recite the soldiers creed, say your ssn , name and rank or what ever) and has ne one been through fort leonard woods chamber

I went to Ft Lost in the Woods. The gas chamber was not as bad as I thought it would be. One key is to follow the directions they give you exactly. It gives you something else to think about for one, and if you don't do what they tell you, it will just take longer to get out. What they make you say is up to the drill sgts. We had to scream out our company motto 2 or 3 times. Have fun and just remember, it's all a head game. Just play the game and you'll do just fine.

My sister did basic at Ft. Leonard Wood. What they have you do in the chamber probably depends on the DI. But her advice: DON'T RUB YOURSELF when you get out of the chamber. The gas will burn but if you rub your face or arms or anything to make it go away it gets worse...if you just wait it will evaporate. Rubbing gets it into the skin and it stays around a lot longer. There was a guy in her group who rubbed his eyes and he hurt for a while...

I've been through the cs chamber @ Fort Leonard Wood... we had to recite the soldiers creed, do side straddle hops, and push ups.. haha, oh some good times happened in that chamber. It feels like you're dying, but once you get out, you want to go back in.. REMEMBER.. drink lots of milk that day ;)

I did mine there in '95. Went through there and I think I only had to say my name and last four. One guy in front of me and fell and chipped his tooth. Yea, that was fun.

WOW these gas chambers u talk of sound a lot like nazi death camps lolz.
in the Australian army infantry course we did we went for a run with our MOP gear and wen we got there we did it in a tent and wen we did the exposure to the CS gas we wernt told to say anything all the instructors did was watch our face and eyes to tell if it got a little too much for some people. all i can say is dont breath though ur nose.
but after it we wanted to go again but wernt allowed so yeah we were all scared at the start but when it was oover we wanted more.
morale of the story = dont believe everything u hearr

I've been to the Gas Chamber what feels like a Zillion times (In reality maybe 10 or 12).

Two purposes to the exercise.

First, confidence in your mask and your ability to put it on and seal it properly.

Second, to make sure you know how to break the seal, clear and reseal your mask.

You wouldn't know if you were doing it properly or if your mask worked......unless you knew what it was like in there without a mask.

It's no big deal, all that's in there is a little CS (Tear Gas).

Relax, keep your heart rate low and don't let anything get you worked up.

What they make you do depends on you..............the more signs of panic? The longer you'll stay.

Last Time I was there was just prior to a deployment. i had to give the names and ages of my three kids. No big deal.

Don't rub anything when you come out, just makes it worse.

No one there is going to let you get hurt, and it's all part of getting in the club.

I went to fort leonardwood gas chamber and basic. It really all depends on what they decided that day. There is no real answer to what they will make you do. But fear you dont stay in there to long. Just make sure you do not leave before your told you can or you will have to do it again.. lol...Once is enough.. But yes it is a bit hard and your body acts out so there will be people throwing up and it will be hard to breathe..but it will not harm you actually overtime your body would adjust to it and you could live in it..but...you wont experience it that long..You may be in there just a couple of mins...it will feel like forever..but its not..just stay until your told to leave..thats the key..
