I am an army medic about to go to EMT or paramedic school, I am EMT B certified, I can bypass EMT-I and go for Paramedic, is there anybody out there with any advice? I have advanced training as a medic but are there any other major differences from EMT B and EMT I

EMT-I are allowed to do more invasive procedures, such as IVs and intubation, and are able to give some medications.
You'll probably find that there is more emphasis on cardiac and COPD in civilian EMS. You'll also see more geriatric patients. Military medics are more geared toward trauma and mass casualty, while EMS is heavy on medical issues, since that makes up the majority of our calls. |

yes actually you can go to a 2 year paramedic school. cities have them in session around the year. Just catch one of those semesters. The paramedic degree bypasses both the EMT certs. and goes straight to paramedic cert. good luck and ty for serving both in the army and as a medic in our civilian sector. We are greatly needed in both areas. |
