It's very refreshing seeing someone want to serve their country instead of bashing it. Congrats to you!!
As for which branch you go into, you have to talk to recruiters and see what's available in each one. It's all going to depend on what you choose as a MOS (job) and how often you like being gone and so on. No matter what anyone says here, the decision will really come from you. You're going to want a marketable career when you get out and you'll want to be able to make full use of your benefits. Please check into each branch carefully and talk to the "experts"....the recruiters. |

If you want to shoot Arabs (as payback for 9/11) then the Army or the Marines is for you!
If you are a pilot (Navy or AirForce) you get to bomb their cities back to the stone age!
Gung-Ho! |

My best friend is in the army and by brother in law was in the navy. My best friend hates it he feels trapped even though the enlistment time is shorter. And my brother in law hated it so much that he is no longer in. The enlistment time in the navy is longer and you have a greater chance of being stationed over seas but less chance of seeing land fall during war time. I say just don't join up. But well I don't like taking orders... from anyone.
My prayers are with you no matter what choice you make. |

Be sure you pick the navy
The army is to dangerous and you get killed quicker |

If you would enjoy wearing 80 pounds of gear and body armor in 135 degree heat, and maybe getting your leg blown off by an IED, RPG, or AK47, join the army by all means. Are you really that brave, and dedicated, and able to pulll your own weight? |

It's all in your personal preferance & how you'd want to spend the next so many odd years of your life. It depends on what role you want, do you want to be up front with the action or back behind the scenes but still important. Personally I'd go Navy mostly becuase I've come to really love that branch & I'm all about sailing, etc (and the technology is pretty impressive!) but you might be the total opposite of me. Go where you thin you'll fit in (And hopefully it'll be the Navy! Sorry, couldn't help it!) |

Army, why would you want to spend 6+ months at a time on a ship?? |

Well if your more leaning towards technology then Navy. If you want to go kill and be right there in the action then Army. |

Go for the Navy. The Army are a bunch of hippies in uniform. |

I may be parcial, but I say Join the MARINE CORPS... |

Well, if you join the Navy expect to be accosted by hundreds of sailors when out to sea. If thats your idea of service, go for it because that is exactly what will happen. It is a disgrace to the military. |

Marine Corps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Depends on exactly what job duties you expect to do, and whether or not you want to be at sea at all...
Both are excellent opportunities, but you need to go with your heart. |

What a honor to have someone so intelligent and bright talking about wanting to "serve her country". I am impressed and tearful that you took the time to post here.
My husband did eight years of service and is a US Marine. He says he will be that till he dies. :-) My Uncles, father, grandfather served in the Army. One was a Commander in the Korean War and was a POW for over 2 years. He had a business degree when he enlisted so he got higher ranking on his enlistment. They all report the Army is excellent .
I have two best friends who were in the Navy. They loved it!
I would look at what incentives they are offering and pick the best!
Thank you for serving our country :-)) |

We don't have time for this! There is a war on! Soon the alliances will be made, the petty disputes settled, and all the countries in the world wil immediately start hewing at whatever country pisses them off the most with a finely sharpened axe. Planes and missiles full of Speed and Violence will be criss-crossing the Mother Earth, who in turn will weep at what her Children are doing. Pain and Anguish is the name of the game now, dear sir, and the person with the biggest friends to stand in front of him will be the one on top in the end. Fear and Monstrosity will win the 2008 election, just barely edging out Weakness and Pacfism. The world has slowly been going insane, so slowly that we haven't been noticing it. It is undeniable now. Every public figure is a mad, jabbering, lunatic. Settle in for a long haul. The last place you would ever want to be is in the armed forces at a time like this. Into the valley of death rode the 600. Mahalo. |
