We are both stationed in Ft Carson, CO. We are both 92A supply clerks. She is in 43rd and i am attached to 3-4 in 1-68 Armor Brigade. Her unitn deploys to Iraq in october or september of this year. Mine wont deploy till april or may of 2010. I talked to my platoon sgt about it and he told me that she should ask around if a 92A would switch units with me. Her platoon sgt said she is the only 1 there. I dont know if I can believe that. 92A are pritty damn important and that would put allot of work and stress one one soldier supporting a whole brigade? I could see her being the only 1 in her company. Im not trying to be in the same 1 as her just the same unit. My company has 8 92A and thats just in Foxtrot. No telling how many others we have. I think they are lying to her cause they dont want to deal with it. What can I do? I dont want to here stupid crap about only 70% of army couples get deployed together. I alreadyknow that and I'm not trying to be that 30%. Please leave a helpful answer.

Well, for starters, you really F'd up by putting all that detail on both yours and your wife's upcoming deployments....... You should probably edit that to just a basic question on "how to..". Know what I mean?
And to answer your question, yes, it can be done. Sometimes it is difficult, but most situations it is NOT. It does all depend on yours and your wife's unit. If your wife is not doing the same on her end to inquire on getting you two together, than she needs to. You both need for your COC to communicate with each other. It really is an easy move, especially if you're on the same base.
If all else fails, use your "open door policy" and speak with the Commander (of both units preferably) and explain to them your situation and it's importance. Be respectful in doing so also, as rudeness and a "piss poor" attitude will get you absolutely nothing.
Just know that rank aside, they are all human too, and how do you think they would like it if it were them?... If they're anywhere near understanding and a good Leader, you should be taken care of. |

You would probably need your command to sign off on it and at the same time have her command accept it. Seems as though your wife's command doesn't want you so there isn't much you can do. I understand that you want to deploy together but you should've known that there is a chance that you may deploy separately. The military doesn't do favors even if marriage is involved. Good luck. |

I don't know about Carson, but when my husband deployed, they had one supply per company, and then a battalion level NCO. If you guys want this to happen, you need to go through your Co (b/c it will need to get approved by his/her higher ups) and see if you 2 can be put into the same battalion. |

I doubt it bro. my husband and I were in the same BN and he went to Iraq and afghanistan and I went to kuwiate, he worked radio and I was a press operator, they are not gonna acoomidate you, the mission comes first, sorry. I even told both 1SGT's my husband and I were having problems, so I would not deploy and leave my kids with my husband AGAIN, ya know what they told me"HAVE A NICE DEPLOYMENT!!!" |
