As a soldier and as a human being do you feel guilty for what our country did to Iraq?
Find answers to your legal question.

As a soldier and as a human being do you feel guilty for what our country did to Iraq?

As a soldier and as a human being do you feel guilty for what our country did to iraq? 10 of thousands dead, and millions displaced. If a country did this to us, we would be firing nukes at them. So as a soldier and as a human being do you feel guilty?

GOOD question - the best ones are going to get people trying like mad to tell you you are NOT allowed to ask stuff like that... but they are the most important ones to ask!

With 600,000+ civilians dead and 4 million displaced it's a bl... good question!!

Look at all the flapping going on below... to which I would say, what about the Winter Soldiers?

What about the fact that this has GROWN terrorism EXPONENTIALLY according to our own side, including the CHIEF of the British Army??

This was also a GIFT to Iran, so well done Mr Bush... he USED the US forces for a dangerous and ILLEGAL political quest in the most unstable part of the planet.

Being a soldier / following orders has NEVER, EVER been an excuse to abrogate personal morality or responsibility... we had this argument from the Germans after WW2 - and we hanged them for it, in some cases we still are!!

For those of you who are still blaming the Iraqis for the deaths:
1. It's our responsibility as the occupying powers not to let this happen.
2. It wasn't happening before we went over there.
3. The buck stops with Bush and Blair.

Now let's hear something from the illegal war and torture for democracy party... (who are merrily growing new terrorists in Iraq at an alarming rate)

feel sorry? We saved them from an oppressive dictator and are giving them a brighter, more free future. If anything we should be proud of what we've sacrificed to help other people and protect our own nation.

I see your not on current events..NO I'm NOT Kidding!!!!
Do you remember anything about this country? Do you remember what type of person ruled this country? Do you remember which country Iraq INVADED before the US stopped them? What DO YOU remember. You think the killings are Americans planting bombs in cars to kill civilians...WHAT DO YOU KNOW about this country? I am serious, people LIKE YOU have ZERO idea why we are there! I suggest you take your sorry A@* down to the recruiter and join today to find out or STFU!

Are you kidding me? What you see on the news is not all that's going on over there. Soldiers are deployed away from their families for over a year to help rebuild that place. They are building schools, churches, sewer systems. If we weren't over there getting rid of the "bad guys" that place would be an absolute mess. Our men and women aren't just over there dropping bombs wherever they please and if you are a soldier yourself, you should know this. Do your research.

no not a bit i loved my three tours over there they are free of Saddam and one day i hope the will have peace its just stupid religion and Iran stoking the fires now and the odd bit of oil. If Saddam had the chance he would have stuck it to the west and us Christians with out blinking and god only noes Wht he would have done to Israel

so sad. you want the soldier who defends your rights and freedoms to take on a personal responsibility for this war. do you feel guilty that you ask this question. so, so sad.

I'm appalled that you would assume that our own military should take responsibility for the death toll over there when terrorists and militia comprised of iraqi citizens and syrians are to blame for most of the deaths since we first stepped foot on Iraqi soil. Obviously you are not a soldier and can barely be considered a human being.

Personally, I think the people like you who supported Saddam's torture chambers and genocidal attacks, and his sons' rapes should feel more guilty.

First off, i dont care, i live in a country that suffered several hundred years of oppresion from the English. Second, dont ask the soldiers, thats just mean, they had to do wat they were told, they couldnt just say, well i dont wanna.

Third, ur just trying to pick a fight with pretty much all th armed forces of america. Thats th armed forces of quite a large nation. Please give them ur address. And me, so i can watch as ur beaten into a bloody pulp by several thousand trained combatants.

Finally, look at ur own government. Th poor get poorer and th richer get richer. The economic slope of ur country is terrible. Th government, from wat i can see is also doing NOTHING about this. Y not? In this country, there are lots of government plans to try an help ppl who are so poor they cant even keep their home and could die on the street. America dont.

But overall dont blame the soldiers, u heartless ********

I'm not a soldier, but I'm from a military family where 2 cousins, an uncle, and my brother-in-law are all marines and have served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. As hard as it gets for them sometimes, they are extremely proud of their services over there. And for the record, we're not the one killing the majority of Iraqis over there. Militias, death squads, and terrorists are. And for the record, none of those include American soldiers.

my nightstick, your head
No, why should we. They started a fight, refused to obey terms that ended it the first time, they are lucky they got off so light.

I only feel guilty because you got away.

Nope not a bit...we are not there without being ask for help after all they have killed their own by the thousands with their walking human bombs or car bombs around the world..We just drag things out to long ..we should have just turned it into a glass bowl and been done with it..You do remember how quick Gen. Schwartskauff (spelling) did his job,,,in and over with in 100 hours..It's really strange how when a military man does his job he gets "retired".....To damn much politics involved and worry about what someone will think or bull about hurting civilians,,,well how about them abducting civilans/noncombatants and then showing their videos of cutting their heads off.......No guilt whatsoever.....

What a stupid question. You are a moron who does not know what your talking about. Saddam killed way more people than the people that died in OIF. We saved tens of thousands of Americans from being killed by terrorists operating out of Iraq. Saddam was funding them as well. Do not ask any more stupid questions.

What is there to feel guilty about? Had we left this country alone, they would still have a terrorist government and their women would still be being abused. They would have no future to look forward to. Terrorists would still be killing people in the streets and blowing things up. Granted, some of these things are still going on. Soldiers serving in Iraq should be honored for their sacrifice and humility to make another country a better place to live in, and to someday enjoy the same freedoms that we have. The U.S. is the big brother country, and has pretty much always ended up doing good for countries they have gone to war with. What do you base this opinion on? The media? Don't believe everything you hear... You need to talk to a soldier and get the real scoop.

feel sorry ?

hell no i don't feel sorry one bit , for what we did in my four tours to Iraq

such as

#1 providing drinking water

#2 opening schools

#3 closing rape and torture centers

#4 building roads

#5 providing medical care

#6 and best of all taking Saddam out of power

trust me when I tell you , your wearing blinders and not being told the real story when it comes too Iraq , I would say 90% of those Iraqi's i came in contact with , where happy as can be that the US was there .

tcoyote
Not one ounce of guilt here. Ask yourself this question: Is it really about Iraq? When you can answer that you may have found a better path toward knowledge. As it is, your question has proved your ignorance. If you really want to know what is going on in Iraq, join the Army, or for that matter, any of the services.

Go have a look for yourself.

Uhh... no. Most of the civilians who have died in Iraq since we arrived and toppled Saddam's regime have died at the hands of other Iraqis and non-Iraqi terrorists, not Americans. We removed a thug from power. We have spent millions rebuilding the infrastructure, training and equipping Iraq's military and civilian defense forces, and supporting its legitimate government, while simultaneously hunting down terrorists, killers, illegitimate militias, and other thugs, as well as pressuring the neighboring countries who keep sending those people into Iraq to cause havoc.

So no, I don't feel guilty for going there and doing a good job and seeing Iraqis thank us every day for providing them with jobs and for sticking through all of this with them.

Do you feel guilty for making irrational generalities based on the brainwashing you've received from your television set and your favorite self-serving politicians? Or are you just unable to cope with the fact that you yourself wouldn't have the cajones to go there yourself and stare death in the face, as we have?

Go back and lurk under the bridge you came from. It needs its troll much more than we do.

As a soldier, as a wife of a deployed soldier, as the daughter of a deployed soldier and the mother of two adorable little girls. If our country were ever in the situation that Iraq was in prior to our arrival then I would be a bit skeptical but over joyed at the opertunity of being able to build a stronger more stable country where my family could grow up the way they choose. First off however I would need to come to that understanding. Until people understand that their possibilities are limitless with freedom and see that they can live a free life, they will never appreciate what they have been given. There is no reason why any one who has an understanding of what freedom is should ever question the good we have done for the world.
