At 44, how do I get my behind back in the Marines? I'm ready...?

I've been out since 84, gained 30 lbs but would love to fight. Not for the Bush, but with my brothers in arms. Plus, it keeps from sending an 18 year old in my place.
They need people, they should take me. I haven't done anything dangerous since riding my bike without a helmet.
Seriously, they should have a program for us old ba$tards. I hate the war, but I love the Marines.
Semper Fi brothers Additional Details I called the recruiter, they said come on down and talk, but they doubt I'd get back in the regular Marines.
Thanks for the responses.

Well, as much as I hold most of your questions and answers in total contempt, I do respect your service, and desire to do so again. Why not look into organizations that send them basics? My girfriend and I send soldiers crap like toothpaste, etc. She handles the particulars, so sadly I got no links for ya.
And how is it Bush's war when he got congessional approval? You should know better than that. |

Have you actually tried to go back into the USMC? I asked because after I returned from Iraq as a DOD contractor contacted the army to see about reactivating my commission and returning to active duty...and I am 52.
Unfortunately I couldn't...not because they didn't want me but because I didn't have enough service time so that I would be eligible for retirement before the cut off age. Hell, I didn't want to join to retire...just contribute. And I am only 5 pounds heaver than when I last served.
The new age limit for enlistment is 42 so I would think you stand a good chance.
Contact the Corp....see if you are still eligible. |

Drink lots of water and exercise to whip yourself back into shape. Leave the fried foods alone for a while. My feelings are the same! They deduct your years of service from your age! I think it's 40 years old not as the limit and if you were honorably discharged. God bless you |

I am not a brother or a Marine.
I wish I could join too, but I am in my 30s and have a toddler and a husband.
I don't know...I think the cut off age for the Army is 42. But since you have been in maybe they will take you back.
I can't get in contact with my brother (in the Marines) right now, but you could call the recruiting office.
I hear that all the armed services are taking people back (re-enlisting?).
Good Luck. |

SInce you are prior service go to a recruiting office and see about getting an age waiver. You know you will need to be within weigh standards before the process can really start. They aren't going to start a waiver process and send you for your full MEPS physical if you are 30 pounds out of standard. It's not super easy to lose that much weight when we are older. At least make a phone call to a recruiter and pose the question. Being prior service with a honorable discharge they may consider it. If they even think you have a chance of getting a waiver approved you will need to cut out the Starbucks and Pizza Hut until further notice. LOL
Good luck and I hope this helps and they will waive your age. |

More than likely the Marines will say no, I currently serve with many prior service Marines but the Army is pretty open to prior service. |

Hey , I was out for twelve years, and they took me in to the Guard at 43, you have to pass a physical, and they will give you time to get in shape too, so see a Guard recruiter and if you have any further questions, click my profile and I would be glad to help you |
