BEST WAY TO GET PHYSICALLY AND MEANTALLY PREPARED FOR ARMY(BT)?

Run an hour every day, or if you're up to it an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon. Figure out what the maximum amount of pushup and situps you can do is. On Monday, do your maximum pushups (preferably between runs) and on Tuesday, do your maximum situps. Keep alternating. Pick maybe one or two days of the week to relax (but remember that you won't have this relaxation period in the army). For diet, the key isn't eating less. It's eating healthier. Eat five meals a day that have smaller portions than your regular meals. Space the meals two hours apart.

10 - Breakfast - Oatmeal, lean chicken breast, Apple

12 - Lunch - Turkey sandwich on wheat bread, banana, steamed broccoli.

2 - Afternoon snack - Garden salad, whole grain pasta.

4 - Evening snack - Lean meat, raw or steamed vegetabls, fruit, fat free or skim milk.

6 - Dinner - Salad, sandwich, fruit, etc.

Don't eat after 6:45 PM if you can help it, and the diet above is an example. You know what's healthy and what isn't.

It's nice to enter BT in shape, but remember to live a little before you go in.

Don't worry to much about getting into shape, the Drill Sgt.'s will make damn well sure you get into shape. Even if it kills you....LOL!!!!! (just joking)

Start by having a good all around diet...because 60% of getting physically fit is your diet. Secondly start by running 30-40 mins a day three days a week. I would also recommend doing 100 pushups on one day and the following day do 100 sit ups the next...and so on and so forth. As far as the mental game goes, just be ready to have someone in your face at times and play the game...Basic training is not hard millions of people before you have done it.

just stick by the book they gave you at meps...it tells u all u need to know to get ready for basic...i leave for basic next tuesday to ft.sill oklahoma...i just run run run run and run....i wouldnt worry about pushups soo much because you will be doin so many pushups by the time pt test come around they will be a piece of cake

Be prepared for the mental part. There is no "stop yelling at me please". Just deal with someone screaming at you. Listen, and get your stuff done as fast as possible and correctly. Do not get discouraged. You are used to being a civilian and doing things on your terms. The purpose of B.T. is to break these civilian habits. You will at times feel as though you cant get anything right, this is normal. Be prepared to eat fast. Keep your head down when eating, as it will give you less of an opportunity to talk to people and get in trouble.Stay MOTIVATED. Do not ever doubt your decision to become a member of the greatest Military in the whole world.

Be prepared to look back at yourself now, during graduation, and be proud of the person you have become.
