Since nobody had heard of Stalin when the Russian Revolution was happening, I don't think anyone would care much.
But when Stalin was in power, yes, you could be killed for opposing him. |

well, considering stalin was part of the rank and file that supported lenin during his rise in power, id have to say it was ill advised to make statements to that effect.
Its kind of like the old joke about the soviet citizen that was arrested and sentenanced to jail for 15 years for stating stalin was an idiot in public.
He got 5 years for the offense...and 10 years for exposing a state secret. |

Could you be killed for saying you were against Stalinism? Stalin wasn't the leader of the USSR until after Lenin died in 1924, and that was after a power struggle with Trotsky.
But if you were to say, in 1917, that you were against Stalin it could probably be assumed that you were against the bolsheviks, and yes, you probably would be horribly tortured, mutilated, and killed. |
