As a Navy wife yes i would gove up my seat. they pay the price for our freedom so giving up my seat would be no big deal. i think tthey all should get to go home on 1st class and the airline give it to them for free. most the time when you get a large number of them coming home they get to go to to the cirty were there base is but aother wise the gov gets them to the bigges airport close by and they think family will drive in to pick them up. |

Of course, but that's beside the point. I probably wouldn't for give it up for $1200, unless I could afford it. Anyway, shouldn't veterans and soldiers get first class tickets anyway? The government needs to pony up the bucks to treat their soldiers right. It's like saying: "You can die for us, but we're gonna skimp on your flight home to see your family." It's a bunch of B.S. |

Honestly? NO. I am a veteran and I would have been shocked if anyone had even considered such a gesture. I don't make that much money as a librarian, and I've never travelled in any class except coach. If I actually decided to spend twice to three times the amount of money to go first class for once, I wouldn't give up that seat for anyone. |

I don't see where the money issue comes into play. if i gave up my seat for a soldier(which i have and would again). I would just take their seat in coach. so i have to sit in coach boo hoo. not a loss. i still get where I'm going. now on the other hand i have seen where airlines have had mess ups and the soldier and another had the same seat. and the soldier had to leave the plane for some dumb reason or other. other people volunteered to give up their seat but the airlines wouldn't allow it. stupid airlines. anyways i'd do anything for a soldier as they have already done everything for me. |

when there were first class seats available i was given that seating a few times when i was in uniform. but, no i dont think a person that paid for a first class seat should give it up for a person in uniform and i probably would not have taken it, unless it was vacant. |

I would gladly give up my seat for a U.S. Soldier. I, Like any other person who answers this Question that has or is serving the military would gladly do it also. Not because its a nice thing to do, its out of respect. the military is like a brotherhood. And all service members should be granted of that respect. $1200 is a small token of appreciation, I am not say that every one should do it, but show them that you are thank full for what they are doing. |

They don't mind sitting in coach, they just want to get home and kiss their babies and hug their loved ones. And yes, I know people who have, at the gate, paid for their upgrade..
Our soldiers are the best soldiers in the world. |

Gotta have more explosions!

No. Because if I started giving up my first class seats to fellow soldiers, I'd have to start giving them up for police officers, firemen, ambulance drivers, surgeons, lifeguards... bah, the military isn't the only essential service, you know.
But yes, this "Heromiles" thing sounds like a good idea (an idea created by a Democrat, before someone spouts out "liberal" crap). Anyone can zealously say they'd let a serviceman take their place in first class, but I seriously doubt any of those people fly first class to begin with, let alone would give up their seat in the moment of truth. A little more integrity, people - stop telling people what they want to hear.
At least if you donate frequent flier points to them, you get that warm, fuzzy feeling with minimal effect on your budget. |

Yes, I would give up my seat to a soldier. I have great respect for the military. I am not for war and my heart goes out to the families with love ones in the military who are fighting and who have died. But I would definitely give up my first class seat, my coat, my lunch, my last five dollar bill, etc for a military soldier. They risk their lives for this country and we need to show them that we appreciate them. So many times when they come home, they have nothing extra for given to them to show our appreciation. I feel that the government should at least pay off their mortgage or something. May God bless the soldiers!! |

Yes, I would, in a second.
The reason they only pay to the hub is to avoid having some GI use them to go all over the country. They pay for you to go home. The rest is up to you. |

Im a U.S. Army vet and a U.S. Army wife. I know what it takes to be a soldier. I know what they go though. They are willing to risk there lives for our freedom so I would give my seat for them..
If they can give there life for me I can give up a stupid seat. |

In a nanosecond. I'd offer to drive him home when we got there too. Our heroes are always paying for overpriced cabs or waiting hours for cheaper buses. |

Yes i believe that I would. They are risking thier lives so that YOU AND I AND EVERYONE IN THIS COUNTRY can have our freedom. I think that you should support our military, they are doing what you DON'T do. Their lives are on the line for this country. Its a small price to pay to give up a seat. They deserve it. |

If the soldier is coming from one command to another, the military pays for that, but not a first class seat. However, if they choose to go to another location, that cost falls on the military person.
I personally would not give up a first class ticket seeing as I paid for it (which has never happened, but if I had plenty of money I likely would feel more generous and give it up). I would thank the military person for doing their job for us and tell them we appreciate them. I do feel pride when seeing a military person in uniform. |

I would do it in a heartbeat. It's only a seat with a bit more comfort room and maybe extra drinks. All the flights my kids (all 4 in the military) have been on they have been treated so well. From extra drinks, to claps, handshakes, to another passenger standing up and letting the planeload of people know that the first one off would be any Military coming home on leave from Iraq or Afghanistan.
I have the most respect for our military men and women. Not only do they give up alot, so do their families. If a wife/husband were going to see their spouse before they were deployed, I would give my seat up for them also.
And the military pays for flights all the way to the closest airport to where you want to take leave. |

I would give him my seat, my blessing and 100% support and admiration. What are these things compared to the possibility that he may be giving his life for me! |

No doubt in my mind. I WOULD give my seat up to ANY soilder! |

Okay being honest here...I would if where the soldier's seat was located didn't have the screaming kid section or the overflowing designated seat neighbor. It's not that they don't deserve it but most of them could care less and only want to get home. I on the other hand would end up in handcuffs for scaring brats back to mommies for kicking my seat or acting up. |
