Britain or Germany, who would win in a war?

I guess you need to be informed about the german military.

Since WWII, the german constitution does not allow the german military to intervene on foreign soil except for humanitarian reasons. The german military forces are also very limited in their arsenal and equipment. Most of all, the germans have no nuclear weapons. Their forces were not very well trained until recently.

The two military powerhouses in Europe are the UK and France. Both have nuclear weapons, nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers. Britain probably has the best trained forces (altlhough the french foreign legion and special forces are among the best in the world). France has probably the better and most recent weapons and equipment, especially in missile technology, choppers and tanks.

Germany has very limited military power and has no intention to become a military powerhouse like it was in the past. There are already 100 000 american soldiers on german soil and missiles to guarantee some protection.

The Germans still use conscripts, and of the 101,000 German soldiers who are currently on active service in the German Army, approximately 17,000 are conscripts. Additionally, a further 35,000 personnel are reservists of the German Army reserve force.

The German Navy is also no match for the Royal Navy and the Luftwaffe has been the subject of massive Defence Cuts by previous German Governments. In fact the Luftwaffe is still operating Phantom Jets, and has had it's order for Eurofighters massively cut back.

Indeed in 2002 over 1/3rd of the German Defence Budget was cut.

Well we already have air bases and army bases on German soil, we have the best special forces in the world, our air force the RAF is matched by that only of the world superpowers and the royal navy has nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers, and we have had a lot more battle experience recently, do the maths, plus we already did this for real, twice, what do you think?

I am assuming you mean with modern technology but with no allies. Otherwise, you're missing a large chunk of european history.

The idea of a war between UK and Germany is plain silly. Both nations are democracies and members of NATO and if there's any dispute between us, such can easily be sorted out at the EU or any other waffle shop of both our choosing.

Pure nonsense and why do we keep having these questions?

Britain, it is a great power, Germany is not, I won't go into details, basically the UK has the whole of the commonwealth behind them, the armed forces are the best trained in the world, the SAS and SBS, we have military bases already there with tens of thousands of troops.
We have already done this for real ... twice.

Obviously the British. Germany has an army of less than half a million. Britain has nearly 10 million men in the Armed Services and a global navy which is the most powerful in the world. Britain also has powerful allies such as the US, Turkey, France, Israel, Poland and India. Germany's only ally is Russia, which is a minor world power.

I would have to say Britain. We have more experience in conflict at the moment and generally have better equipment. However Germany spends a lot of military and is very strong force with decent tanks etc. Britain has a stronger and bigger Navy and better Air Force so they will win the day. Plus Britain had stronger allies, mainly being US, so I think that sorts it really.

I think Germany might have learnt by now that we're not to be messed with. Location wise: To beat us You'd have to send your entire army in by sea, air or through the Tunnel (requiring you to invade France first). Achieve that task (bearing in mind no-one has successfully done that since 1066 nearly 1000 years ago) and you've still got the US reinforcements to deal with. Trust me, Germany would be much better off allying themsleves with us than trying to Invade us... again...

Royal navy will just blockade German ports.

RAF will dominate the sky's

The ground battle will be hard as German tanks, armor etc are good
but Royal marines, SAS will make any work short here

Us Brits would win, obviously.

Although you might have forgotten something called the 'Treaty of Rome', which, in effect, prevents a war between the two nations from happening.
