British: if Portugal was invaded would you help us?

Yes, no question about it. Portugal is our oldest ally and when you've been friends as long as we have, you don't have to say too much, because you know we will never let you down nor will we poke our noses into your private affairs, politics and business. When we play football together, it's always going to be a 'friendly'.

I'm going to be in the Algarve in June. Looking forward to it.

No matter what, you never heard any critisism of Jose Marinio, after all, he's Portuguese and can do and say anything he likes, when he's here in England.

If Morocco invaded not a problem. However, if Spain invaded you we could have a problem there. Half the population on the Costas are British tax exiles so there could be a conflict of interest....
However, if you promise to let me stay free of charge at the Pine Cliffs Sheraton Hotel (http://www.pinecliffs.com/) we could maybe over look conflicts of interest with Spain.

Yes of course. We are generally very good at keeping our promises. Plus I like Portugal.

But you are a member of NATO and the treaty says somewhere that if a member is attacked the rest of us have to go and help. So we would have to anyway.

Yes of course, your troops are there with us in every conflict.

A portuguese man has come to our village to work and everyone loves him.
He is a friendly, warm and generous man.
If he is a typical example of what Portuguese people are like then i'd be proud to fight to defend his country.

Having spent a few weeks on a NATO exercise in and around Setabul I can say fell in love with the people. We were made to feel very welcome by hotel staff, waiters and bar staff.
I am now packing my kit just in case. lol

As Portugal is part of the NATO alliance and also part of the EU then it would be those forces not just the UK who would help.

Unless Portugal was to commit some obscenity that justified an invasion (which is very unlikely) I would hope we would live up to our commitments and help our allies the best we could.

We have a long History of Helping our allies, that's how we got involved in both world wars.

I'm pretty sure we would help you, seeing as you are a NATO country but i think Spain invading you is out of the question as they are a NATO country to, but if Morocco was to invade you then personally i would be more then happy for us British to help Portugal out

You have no alliance with Scotland. The UK did not exist in the XIV century, which says a lot about the sad state of Portuguese education.

Anyway nobody would invade Portugal. It has nothing. No oil, no industry, no people (compared with China), nothing really except salt cod which you buy from Iceland.

Also some people remember how you treated the Angolans. Some people remember Salazar. Don't get me started!
