Ok so my hubby is currently deployed has been for a year now n is coming home in less then a month, iam freaking out literally with excitement. I Just wanted to hear of story's of how the first day n week following ur hubby being home after a deployment. My hubby wasn't any different wen he came home for R&R he was still the sweetest hubby on earth n we talk n never argue over the phone while hes been deployed.

My Hubby has been home for 3 months now. A lot of it has to do with the stress of the deployment, how long he was gone for, what he had to go thru, what he saw, what he did - that will possibly affect him. The worst that happened with us was he had a few bad dreams, didn't wake up or anything during them, didn't become violent, just woke up in a crappy mood, lol! It takes some getting use to, and depending on how long you were married BEFORE deployment, you either have a lot of catching up to do, or a lot of learning about each other to do still. We were only married for 6 months before hand and only together for 11 months total before he deployed, and his deployment was 14 months long, so we had both a lot of catching up, AND a lot of learning to do. We learned how to communicate with each other over instant messaging, Yahoo mostly, and emails, and phone calls when we could get them, but being face to face again was kinda hard when it came to arguing, you can't just log off or hang up, lol! But since you and your Hubby haven't argued much that shouldn't be too big of a factor.
The first week was exciting, frustrating, and enlightening. If there were any problems over deployment AT ALL, don't try to fix them in the first week, just enjoy your time together :) My husband came home at night - 2am actually, they were due to be home at 10pm :( we waited for 4 extra hours - get to where you are suppose to meet them EARLY - cause if there is a large group coming home seating is going to be limited. Don't expect them to be on time either (Hurry up and wait, ya know?) That's all I can really think of - OH, and when you go to leave, either wait until everyone is out of the parking lot, or get out ASAP - it's a MAD HOUSE! Good Luck and Congrats on getting thru your 1st Deployment! |

Seriously, the first time he got deployed we had only been married for 6 months and I was 5 months pregnant. They sent him home right before my due date and it was really awkward. He was freaked out by my big belly and the moving baby. We didn't really have much to say to each other. I actually had to ask him for a kiss on the ride home (from picking him up). It took a while to get back to normal. Every deployment after that he seemed a little more excited to see me and the kids. It was never the dramatic reuniting that you see on tv, though. I always felt kind of let down. There was never a great big hug or passionate kiss. Just a "hey how ya doin? " |

It was a little akward with my boyfriend when he came back, to be honest. I'm not sure why. Everything went back to normal within a few days and we're perfectly peachy just as we always have been, it was just such a shock to have him back I suppose! |

Well mine wasn't deployed, but he was stationed in Korea for a year. When he came home, unlike one of the girls who responded on here, it was that big dramatic moment. (I literally ran through to terminal to get to him lol.) But, after a few days the initial excitement wore off. It took me a lot to get used to having him there again. I was used to going off and doing everything on my own schedule and in my own way. It didn't cause any real arguments, it just takes some time to get used to things again. |
