No. Congress must declare war under our Constitution.
Since World War II, Congress has authorized "use of force" for each of our undeclared wars. |

The President must request War from Congress.
They are the only ones that can approve War.
This is why it is comical that every one blames the President over the Wars, majority of Congress was the deciding factor.
And yes Congress did know and approve Vietnam at the beginning. |

you do not need a declaration of war( see majority of wars we have fought)
And hillary and other dems have already signed a bill allowing him to just about do everything but put boots on the ground in Iran.
Wonder how long before they will lie and claim they were misled. |

Only Congress can declare war, currently for these campaigns they have delegated their authority to wage the war to the President. Something to keep in mind is you can delegate authority not responsibility. They as Congress can adjust this at any time. Yes, it is true that when they provided the War Powers Act the Reps were dominant but the numbers were relatively the same in reverse as they are now and many votes crossed the party line. |

the president can not declare war. he can send troops in without a declaration of war. |

The Marine Corps is the only branch of the military that the President can send out when he wants, without the approval of Congress. |

I think it took more than Mr. Bush's word to start the campaign in Iraq and Afghanistan, so how do you think he can act independently against Iran?
Even with regards Vietnam the "conflict" was not undertaken solely on the word of a President!
There are rules that even a President and a Government must follow. |

Not just out of the blue, he would have to conjure a reason, like WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. |

Not he cant but he can do what he wants with the US military for ninty days after ninty day he must ask permission from the US Congress to futher his actions |

Currently, the laughing stock of the world - All US Citizens.
We cannot make up our mind with regards with this president. |

The President cannot declare war, congress can.
The President must have and show justification for military action, or presence in a foreign nation.
The President doesn't "start bombing countries and call it a 'conflict' ". There would be a good reason. |

CAN he..yes.
Should we Americans let him, as the citizens he supposedly represents... NO! |

Congress tends to approve and fund acts after the fact.
It will not be against Iran it will be against the terrorist military organization (their army).
I guess that makes it ok. |

Why not? The US hasn't been in a declared war since WW2. A clear violation of the constitution, but nevertheless, that's the way it is. |

No. He might be stupid, but not THAT stupid. |

The president has to ask the congress for a declaration of war. In the past the congress has been a rubber stamp for presidential requests, this time around he will face a very unwilling congress. |

He is the President isn't he.. He's already shown you all he can do whatever he likes.. I don't understand why you americans vote him in and then ***** about him.. Makes you all look bad... |
|

nigelshiftright

Of course he can't.
He could possibly create another bogus provocation and bomb Iran but I don't think the people of America, Congress or the military would tolerate any suggestion to invade Iran or declare war on it.
Bush would be arrested and judged mentally unstable.
we still have a Constitution (for the moment). |
