Can I get back into the United States with no fee passport if my husband is stationed in Italy?

My husband is currently stationed in Italy, my daughter and I live here with him. We have applied for tourist passports, but they may not be here in time. My question is: Can my daughter and I travel back to the U.S. with our no fee passports and a copy of orders? Also, can my husband do so with just his ID and leave form?

My daughter and I are both U.S. citizens.

If he has his orders and his leave paperwork then he can use an ID card but he can run into some problems at the customs & immigration areas if flying commercial. He should have been issued the No Fee passport as well. He will only be allowed to travel between Italy and the US not anywhere else without a passport, even to Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean starting June 1st.
If you have your No Fee Passport it can be alright if only used to travel between the US and the overseas location you are stationed at. If you travel outside of that you need the Tourist Passport. |

yes in fact that's the one you are supposed to use as it has your SOFA stamp in it. the Tourist one you use when you want to travel around Europe.
HE really needs a passport through for any leisure travel. the ID /copy of orders is really only supposed to be while he is on orders, not on Leave. |

No fee passports allow you to travel to and from your OCONUS assignment, so yes, you and your daughter should be able to come back to the states on them. Keep in mind, you can not use them to travel any place other than between the US and Italy..not even Canada. For any othre international travel, you will need your tourist passports. Your husband should be able to use his leave form and ID, but again this will only work between the states and Italy. |

Being that you are American Citizens...
I do not understand why you would have to
apply for a Visitors VISA to the USA ???
You have a USA Passport that is all
you would ever need to travel anywhere
in the World...
The only exception would be is if
you needed a VISA from another
Country to vist there...
