Can I get discharged if i'm found to have asthma while already in the army? What are other possibilaties?

I joined the National Guard in Feb. 2008, went to basic in Oct. 2008, and now I'm at AIT. I went to the Doctor about having trouble running, I told him I had pneumonia at the end of basic. He told me i might have exercise induced asthma and told me to go see a specialist, which i'm currently in the process of doing. I had to a CT scan and now I have to do a PFT and a 6 minute walking test. I am really doubtful of maintianing the army's physical standards at my condition now. What happens if I do get discharged, what kind will it be charecterized as?

You will probably go through a medical board to see if you are fit to continue service. If they say you aren't fit then you will probably get an entry-level separation if you have less than 180 days in (which should be the case if you are in AIT right now). Don't worry about a fraudulent enlistment charge unless you already had asthma and knew it but lied about it. It won't be a negative discharge and if anybody asks why you was discharged early you will have the paperwork to back it up. If you are lucky and want to stay in then you might be able to stay with a limited profile. But since you are still a trainee it isn't looking too good for you.

I have Asthma and I still serve, the topic of Medical chapter has never came up.

i worked with at least 2 asthmatic soldiers in the past
both were medics in the 10th InDiv, both did their daily runs, and i think, that as long as you can do your job with a reasonable reserve
there shouldn't be a problem

You will be discharged if it's the Air National Guard. Otherwise, you can get a medical waiver for it if it's not too severe. If you do get discharged it'll be medical.

In was in the USAF for over a year 11/63 thru 12/64. I was diagnos with Having asthma. I was stationed in Kansas and having difficulty breathing. After a battery of tests in many hospitals. I was discharged. And given an honorable Discharged with medical conditions. I wondering if I am eligible for any Compensation.? I know it's been awhile. Ever since I was discharged I could Never work a regular 9 to 5 job. I always had to seek felixle work hours. Die Appreciate any feed back. Thanks
