Ok, so here's the deal. I am a 20-year-old female who has finally got her life together after being involved with the wrong crowd (druggie dead-beats). I dropped out of school in 11th grade, but I don't have my GED yet. I did, however, start taking classes (eventually want to be a nurse) in college because you only need the GED for the degree, where I have a 3.9 GPA now. I am also heavily into fitness and run for an hour every day plus strength, so I was thinking I could join the military and that would help me get my life on track even more. Any thoughts?

Good for you. Yes, the military now accepts people with no GED. The military has its own classes to help people pass and earn the GED they need. You can ask a recruiter to see how this will work out. Best of luck and welcome back! |

Army is probably your best bet without a GED. |

It depends on the branch and how high your asvab score is. Some branches only take high school diplomas. Some may take a ged if you have a high asvab score. |

A GED is a good start, but even at today's levels a GED may not be good enough to get you into the MOS you would like in the military. A two year degree will help, and show a level of commitment that they are looking for in an officer. Branches you may wish to consider; Navy, Army, & Air Force, with Navy being first and the other two are interchangeable. |
