Can Officers in Army join SAS?

I am aware that you must be selected and the training etc.
Just wondered whether this was possible and if the selection process is any harder?

Yes, but not entry level officers, you have to have several years experience first.

You initially serve 3 years then return to your unit.

You can apply later on to rejoin the SAS

And at that time, become a permanent member of SAS

IE: stay with SAS for the rest of your career.

Yes they can, I think they only serve for 3 years though.

Yes they can. Â£ years and they must show excellent command and control skills over and above the other ranks. Very hard course.

Yes they can, providing they pass the gruelling tests that are set before them, and believe when I say gruelling, you have to be fit and have plenty of stamina plus self discipline....the SAS are the Elite in Britain and are ones you do not mess with.
I know, as I was attached to them when doing a recon. mission with them in Northern Ireland in the late 1970's

You aren't invited to join the SAS you have to apply.
Everyone who applies does the same selection. If they get through then the officers serve about 3 years but can be posted back later in their careers

If they undertake Selection yes.Many officers try out every year and have to do the same Selection as squaddies

Officers may apply to join the regiment but not as an officer, the selection procedure is the same for everyone

you can not apply to join the SAS
if you show Promise and the ability you are invited to join the SAS on training exercises
if again you show you have the attitude and skills they look for you could be asked to join the unit.
most SAS recruits come from the Paratroop regiments and the Royal Commando's
