Can Someone tell me where I can recieve unbias news?

I watched CNN the other day, seven stories in a row on the war. Nothing positive. I guess they want me to believe no good work is being accomplished over there. Listen to NPR, all they talk about is gay rights, global warming, art, and how bad Bush is. Listened to Diane Sawyer interview the leader of Iran. The best question she could come up with as she chuckles "so, what do you have on your IPOD". What a waste of airtime. At least when I listen to right wing propaganda the hosts will admit they are right wing.

There are several sources, but you will still need to sort through using your intelligence and logic. You can basically skip almost everything on television with the possible exception of the straight news on Fox.
Try these links
http://drudgereport.com/
http://news.google.com/
http://www.littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/lgf-news.php
you will still get a lot of bias from these links but I think you will be able to figure it out. |

go for raw reuters or ap footage. Or smaller budget media outlets. You're right, the media giants are a bunch of crap. |

I have to say that you won't be able to find any one source. If you have the time and the determination, look at different sources. You'll find the common thread of the story on multiple sites and see just were the bias is.
I'm conservative and usually go back and forth between CNN, Fox News, and the Drudge Report. There is also Breitbart.com. That's pretty good, too.
CNN is great when it comes to immigration and domestic issues. I despise it's foreign slant, however. Fox is who I prefer when it comes to news on the war, but it's bias is annoying when it comes to domestic issues. |

I get most of my information by reading the headlines and then researching both sides of the story...good luck.. |

To be fair, I've been watching CNN and BBC news objectively. They both report events as they happen, with their news correspondents right on location, witnessing and reporting things firsthand as they see the events unfold before their eyes and in front of the cameras. They report both good things and bad things, depending on the events of the day. Somehow, you and me have to accept that news is news. It could be good news and it could be bad news, or it could be a mixture of both. The Iraq war had indeed been going bad in the past month (more troop casualties, destruction, civilian deaths, etc) and those cannot be denied. That's the reason why you say that nothing positive is reported. But on some other days, there were also positive news (some areas in Baghdad that were pacified, US-Iran starting talks on the Iraq situation, some insurgents killed or captured, some 42 Iraqi hostages freed from militants, some shops opening up after deadly suicide bombings, etc.).
So never expect any impartial news agency to report only the good things or only those things you wanted to hear (that would be bias and propaganda, not news). Impartial and unbiased reporting covers both sides of the same coin. Sometimes, truth hurts and becomes inconvenient. But that's how it is. |

I stared your question because, it's sad that NEWS is controlled by corporate backers, and there for will always be bias. You will never find a unbiased news because everyone has a agenda, monetary gain, political or other wise.
Whats really sad is that most Americans base the way they think about other country's, religions, wars, fellow Americans of different race off of a bias news.
You really want something to get under skin about news? Research which corporations own what Major News net works, and find, if you dig deep enough that most news outlet, both on TV and papers are the same corporation. Fallow that line of thought to its logical end. If "I" run all major news out lets I could make the majority of America think the way I want them too..............mmmmmmmmmm. Research it your self. |

You need to go to some GOOD NEWS ONLY websites. The only news they talk about is POSITIVE. I feel the same way when I watch the news. It's always negative; always about the war, always about crime, and blah blah blah. Well good luck to you. I provided positive news sites for you below. |

There is no such thing as unbiased news. Every reporter gives the news as they see it - which means you get their biases. And their editors edit those reports according to their biases. So it's pretty well skewed by the time it gets to you. The best thing to do is subscribe to a number of sources - read various newspapers, watch several TV channels, and combine the information to figure out where the truth lies, which is usually somewhere in the middle of all of this.
Bottom line is, if you want to know what's going on, you have to pay attention and do a little work to find out what's really happening. But if you're like 99 percent of the population, you take the easy way out and just smile back at the evening newscaster and take it in holus bolus. |

You can't. It's up to you to figure out the truth. |

Every news source is biased. Everything, from the events they choose to air, to the personal tastes of the program director, to the demographic they are trying to target will affect what they report and how they report it.
The only effective way to get unbiased news is by being there yourself. Even then, it will reflect your own personal bias. You will see what you want to see, and not see the stuff that contradicts you.
However, as that is not an option for most people, I would recommend getting a hold of as many news papers/publications as possible. Read them all... analyze the facts for yourself... the only thing you can be sure of is that the truth is somewhere in the middle. and, DO NOT use the television as your primary news source. There is no way television news can match the information density of classic print media.
For some sources to get started with, I'd recommend the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, The Economist, Time Magazine, Newsweek, Boston Globe... basically any major print news publication.
Hope that helps! |

go to the internet and try BBC.com and hinduonnet.com...never read news about a country from its own press..they are biased and shortsighted about their own counrty and are afraid of being controversial about their own governments.....especially the American press..they are owned by about 4 corporations who rely on the Federal Communications Commission to make profits and therefore very rarely criticize the US Government...preferring to concentrate on who won American Idol instead of who sold military secrets to china. |

the myth of unbiased news reporting is dead; nobody believes it anymore; not news reporters, not politicians, not tv watchers and newspaper readers. but we do live in the age of information; things are hidden in plain view. it is up to you to sift through what you find and determine the extent of its validity. this takes a certain amount of education, thinking skills, experience, and critical thought. the more varied your sources, the broader your picture will be on a subject. if you are interested in finding the truth you will have to go outside of the borders of the USA. American news agencies report only from an American perspective, which is limiting. try Al Jazeera, or the BBC, or RFI (radio France international), Radio Netherlands English service, CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation), the Economist magazine, all of which are quite conservative in their politics (with the exception of al jazeera, which is generally liberal). Or join a newsgroup online, or better yet, join a few. it all depends on how much time you have to devote to the news. |

One cannot obtain completely unbiased news. At best, I believe, one can hope to hear a different point of view contained within the same news story and that will help the reader or viewer determine what is newsworthy.
Part of the problem has to do with those who format the news and decide what is worthy of being reported. Ratings and other non news worthy events or factors might drive the judgment of the editors and producers who make the decisions about content. Owners too, bear responsibility in what is reported. Most news is commercial, so remember that money is driving most reporting.
Then we must deal with our own biases. As many point out, there are conservatives and liberals. If you follow one particular point of view above another, then you might be disappointed in the content. Perhaps it would be best to listen to news from both the right and left. At least a person possessed of a mind prepared to critically think could come to a reasonable conclusion.
Finally, and as a mere meaningless sidebar, I do not think your question belongs in the military section.
