Can a Naval Line officer wear the FMF pin?

I am a former enlisted 8404 Corpsman and earned my FMF pin with 3rd BN/8th Marines. I am en route to become a Naval Line officer, upon my comission am I authorized to wear my enlisted FMF pin on my uniform?

I don't know of any reg against it. I've seen officers wear ESWS pins. If you have earned it then you should be able to wear it.
There is a web site/forum for people who go from enlisted to officer (Navy) that you might be interested in. It seems like they have some good advice. I put a link. Note that it is not an official web page so you may have to research the posts.
Congrats on the promotion. Don't know why you didn't choose Medical Service Corps...but that is still good. Maybe you just wanted a change and I can't knock that.
Check out OPNAV INSTRUCTION 1414.4B That is the instruction for the FMF enlisted.

Back in the mid 1970's, on the first ship I served on, we had an officer who'd been drafted and spent 2 years in the Army and did a tour in Vietnam. He wore his Combat Infantry Badge on his khakis.
I don't remember if he wore it with his whites or blues.
You will wear your Good Conduct Ribbon/Medal with your uniform, that's for sure. |
