YES you can, you will have to give up custody of your children while you are in training. However your kids are covered for medical and dental ect. This is how the army does things. Once you have completed training, you will either get a housing allowance based on your rank if no housing is available.. or you will get housing. |

You can, but you will have to temporarily give up custody of your kids while you are in boot camp and possibly tech school.
After that you can get base housing (rent and utilities paid) or BAH (money so that you can pay for rent and utilities).
You will need to create a Family Care Plan, to detail who is going to step in to take care of the kids in case you are deployed. |

They will not let you join the military as a single parent. If you become single after joining, that is one thing, but not before. |

No, the services do not accept single parents for enlistment anymore. http://usmilitary.about.com/od/joiningthemilitary/a/enlstandards_3.htm |

I don't think you can join. If you are allowed you will need to have a care plan in place for your children. You will not be allowed to live in housing till after AIT school.
At that point you will get assigned a permanent duty station and can apply for housing. The waiting list can be up to a few months. |

No, the military won't provide care for your children while you are in boot camp or deployed.
You need to find a guardian for your kids. Flat out.
You have almost no contact with family or friends during boot camp and if your shipped off... The will most likely not come with you...
Unless your in an office job where you can guarentee that you'll be in one place for a long time... But don't belive them at all if they promis you a job like that... The military will tell you anything to get you to sign on the line because then you are THEIRS and they can do with you what they please. |

Yes they can, my cousin just joined the Marines about 6 months ago. She has one girl. She had to give up temporary custody of her daughter while in Boot Camp but now has her back and is living on on base housing. She has had to have a family care plan so when she is deployed or has to go on field exercises someone will take her daughter for the time she is deployed or at training. |

It depends on how many children you have. If you cannot join with your dependents you can if you find someone willing to take temporary custody. Both my mother and my sister had to do this when they joined the military. You also need to develop a family plan detailing exactly what would happen in the event that you are deployed or die. but they will allow you to live off base with a BAH and when on base housing comes available they will allow you to move into it. |

Yes, but you must have a family care plan in order to do so. You have to be able to supply them with a person/persons willing to care for your children during basic training and deployment, as well as signed affidavits that they are willing to care for your children.
Otherwise, you will not having housing for your children until you complete basic training and job training. Afterwards they will provide you with housing though, as well as allowances for food, etc. |

I have been active duty for 8 years (Navy)....to join you have to temporaily give up custody of the kids until after boot camp and training for whateva job you choose or are give....sorry but you dont always get what you want....they tell you what you want to hear....trust me i know first hand..... then it depends on your duty station...not all overseas billets allow family to accompany some do.......they do not provide childcare....they do have a facilty that offers it but of course you pay for it.....you will be paid for your dependents tho (children).......I suggest joining the reserves first which is where i am now I have been in the reserves nw for 3 mnths.......I hve 2 children...but i do have to go overseas for my AT...which is normally for 2 weeks but mine will be longer since I have to allow 4 days extra travel time...... 2 days to get there and 2 to get back... hope i helped |

Hi ♥who_knows♥; Yes to the first, and yes to the second. However, housing is by availability only. Meaning that you may not get housing right away. But, theres this thing called Housing Allowance, which allows you to rent at Government expense, based on your rank. Hope this helps ya! |
