Prerequisites (IAW AR 190-12):
1) Must be Military Police (MOS 31B) or DOD Civilian Guard

Job Requirements:

(1) Must currently hold MOS 5811 [Military Police].
(4) Complete the Military Working Dog Basic Handler Course and the Detector Dog Handler Course, Lackland Air Force Base.

Kind of the Corps of Engineers have some type of explosive detection dogs but I don't know much about them.

Yes you can. There are tactical units in the army that have dogs, that are not MPs.
