No, the Army does not do that. Only the National Guard has that "Sign-Up bonus."

Also, you will get the bonus ONLY if you join into the SPECIFIC military post (the link will say more)

Well, it's taxed, if that's what you mean. It's taxable income. Not only that, what they do is give you $10K up front, when you finish boot camp, then spread the other $10K out over the course of your enlistment. So, they're not cutting you a check for $20K when you sign up.

You dont get the first till after boot camp the second after your secondary training and the last at 1 year
BTW you have to pay taxes on that and if you get booted, you have to pay it back

Usually given to you this way, half upon completion of training. The rest is paid in equal amounts on the anniversary of your enlistment. This is done so you don't disappear with all of the cash after training..........

Bonuses depend on what Job in the Army you enlist for. Some jobs(MOS's) do not offer bonuses, some do and the amounts depend as well.

No, of course it's not on the spot. If they had this type of money, they would not need recruiting offices. And, here's the cake topper. They promise you $20,000 signing bonus, but, only a handful of people will ever see that, because the US Government is spending $1.3billion a week in Iraq, all those signing bonuses have got to go somewhere. The military can't promise this anymore, because they know right out that this money must be used for the aftermath overseas in Iraq. The War in Iraq has already been fought, we won that in less than four months, now, it's the Aftermath that we are losing.

That's why many military personnel are not re-enlisting because they know that their tours will be extended without them seeing any of that promised bonus. No money for college as promised, no re-enlistment bonus. If they do get anything, it's very seldom.

All I can say is READ THE FINE PRINT before you sign anything. Then get your parents to read it also, just in case.

lmao. That's your pay for the first year. After they put you through hell for the first three months. Don't ask your recruiter, he'll lie through the teeth to get you to sign up. It means cash for him.

omg! if your thinking of signing up for the money trust me it is so not worth it!!! you dont get it right away or even all at once (i dont believe) but my bro was in the army for 19 years and if i ever take his advice on anything " DONT JOIN THE MILITARY!!!" its the opposite of what nike says "just DONT do it!!!"
