Can i be discharged from the air force because of my juvi record?
|
see im still a minor and i was arrested for doing graffiti, i went to family court and my charge was dismissed. im joining the airforce and i never told my recruiter i was arrested because i was scared. this following week im going to MEPS to get my pyshical and other stuff, my recruiter told me to say no to everything they ask me but i think i might get discharged from the airforce if they find out i lied about being arrested even if i was a minor and my charge was dropped

Please take a read at this link. It will answer most of your questions about Moral Standards.
"Military applicants are required by law, as part of the enlistment process to disclose any and all incidents that resulted in arrest or in charges being filed. When determining whether or not an offense "counts" for enlistment purposes, the services are primarily interested in whether or not the applicant actually committed the offense, not whether or not a "legal" conviction resulted.

To the Military there is no such thing as a sealed record. They can and will find out about it, sooner or later.
It does not matter that the charges were dropped, You were arrested and charged. It is a criminal record. Unless you were acquitted, it lasts forever.
By your own admission here, you did commit the offense. |

Hopefully so. Fess up now. If you are upfront from the beginning and you can get in then you have nothing to worry about. If not then go find another branch. Your recruiter doesn't care about you, he cares about his numbers. He won't be there when you get the boot. Unless you do RAP you will never see your recruiter again. If they find out while your in boot camp you could be stuck in admin hold for a while until you get booted. |

The USAF has the highest standards, and in my days, you would be sent to Fort Leavenworth for a while and then be given a bad discharge; however, the old grey mare isn't what she used to be and neither is the the USAF. |

Yeah right... Don't listen to anyone on here. A juvenile record that where charges were dismissed. Give me a break. They won't do anything at all. When I went to MEPS they were screaming up and down that if you did drugs, broke the law or lied about anything that it was your last chance to pony up or go to jail. All a farce. I smoked weed days before I went to MEPS and they didn't do anything. I know I tested positive. All I did was take a bunch of multivitamins and left it at that. They asked why my urine was so yellow and I said because I take vitamins. They didn't do anything. Secondly I found out that when they do there random drug tests, they have a cut off of where you fail, so you may test positive, but they will pass you because you didn't go over the limit. Don't let them scare you because of a graffiti charge that was dismissed. Oh and it was the Air Force that I joined as well. I loved every minute of it. |

No you cannot be discharged from the air Force since you aren't even yet in the Air Force according to this question, if you have not even gone to MEPS for a physical. Did the recruiter, or form you filled out, ask if you were convicted or arrested. Since everyone is innocent till proven guilty it shouldn't matter to the Air Force if you were arrested if the charges were dismissed. That is just a case of false arrest. |

Did the application ask about charges or about convictions? |

the air force doesn't care about juvi charges that were dropped. you aren't a security risk, nor are you an apparent predator. That's all they care about.
listen to your recruiter, he wants you to succeed.
air force is a fine place to learn a trade -- among other things, jet engines need repair in civvy life, too. one of my best friends in HS got exactly this job in the AF and he's been steadily and happily employed, at darn good wages, for several decades as a civilian now. |
