Are you near the end of your enlistment?

If you are within the window, go see your in-service recruiter..............there should be one there somewhere.

He does an in-service NG enlistment.

If you are going to a unit with the SAME MOS you should get a bonus. Even if you don't you may get an affiliation bonus. And since you're in a CZTE area it should be tax free.

Once your RA ETS comes around, you then have 60 day from the LAST day of leave (the date on your dd 214) to report to your National Guard Unit.

NOW, this is the part you want to read carefully. And probably ask about repeatedly and make sure it's in your contract.

If this is your first enlistment, and you have IRR time left?

There used to be an option to go from the RA to the Guard for 2 years, and in return get your IRR time cut in half.

In addition, if you were deployed within I think 12 months of reporting to the NG? You can also get stabilization in your contract. 2 Years- no deployments

Everyone laughs about the IRR. I'm typing this From Olsen Hall, Ft Benning Ga. where I'm staying while in a school. The next building over is filled with IRR recalls. maybe 200. ALl ordered to report long after they thought they were done.

Nope. You can't do that at all. In the National Guard or Reserves you can move to active duty, but when you are active duty, you have to serve your full term. In order to join the National Guard you will have to ETS from active duty first. I tried to find out if I could go Guard or Reserves during my last reenlistment, but you can't. Your best bet would be to wait untill your about six months out from ETS ing, then go talk to a Guard or Reserve recruiter, infact, its mandatory during the ACAP proccess.

I asked my hubby who is now a army veteran and x-national guard. The answer is no, you have to finish one and then you can join the other.

It all depends on needs of the Army but at the moment, they're pulling troops out of the sandbox, so you're chances of going there is slim but if you want to go to Mountains, then its more likely, You could always ask you're CO and see if you could volunteer to go.
