Can i get a medical discharge for a heart problem thats acting up?
I am a marine that has been in the corps for 1 year. I am in the data field. When i joined i was tolld at MEPS that i had a heart murmur. It was mitral regurgitation and a few other things. i started feeling lots of heart palpitations and pain in my chestafter completion of bootcamp and mct. i used to run a 19 min 3 mile but now im running a 23 min with lots of difficulty almost fainting on the run. my last pft i felt a knot in the left of my chest and apparently the pain showed on my face to evryone else. it has been becoming more of a physical nuissance daily and im beginning to have less of a tolerance for pt. i havent gone to medical because i didnt want to get held back in my mos school. i want to know what would happen if i go to medical at my present duty station. would i get a med discharge or just limited duty. i am not some turd looking for an escape. my pros/ cons are a 4.7 and i am known by all my superiors as a leader. I just dont want to play with my life because it is my heart im talking about after all.i am currently stationed in okinawa and the humid air and hilly terrain do not help.

p.s. ive done the research on heart murmurs and know about benign murmurs and the sort that is not what i have. i have mitral regurgitation with some other things i cant remember. some one knowledgeable please respond.

If you are really in the Marines and are having physical problems such as heart and chest pain you should report to the medical officer and be completely checked out. You shouldn't be asking on Yahoo what to do about your problems. You have teenagers on here who haven't even stayed up late who are pretending to be service persons. Report to sick call as soon as you can before you drop over dead. I was Marine Recon Corpsman for two tours in Vietnam and have seen heart problems drop otherwise healthy men in a second.

YOU NEED TO GO TO SICK CALL!!!!!!!!!! End of story. Get up in the morning and report.
