It is visible on the lower back of my leg, i dont know the current tattoo policy and i was thinking of joining the airforce.

air force may different, but army regs prohibit anything on the neck that higher than the ear, or further forward than ear. Hands are ok, legs, arms, whatever....
That just changed a couple years ago though, prior to that, the whole neck was prohibited, as well as the hands. The air force may still have a policy like that.
And of course.... any gang tat is a no-go, no matter where it is, visible or not |

Air Force is the strictest on tattoos.
Your tattoo is somewhat questionable to me... it's not visible in uniform, which is good. But it would be visible in PT gear, which is bad. My best guess... it depends on how anal they want to be that day and where they want to draw the line.
Most important is if it's "offensive" or not. If not, then there should be a way around it.
In general, it's not a good idea to get a tattoo before joining... whereas you can pretty much get one once you're already in and nobody cares (unless it's offensive and/or visible in uniform.) |

My fiance is in the AF and has several tattoos, including one on his ankle. I know several others on base with several tats. I think it's fine as long as it is not visible in uniform, and if it's on your leg it shouldn't be visible as your uniform has pants. But just to be safe I would ask a recruitment officer before you get the tattoo because once it's there it's permanent. |

The air force does not like tattoo's especially if they can be seen outside your uniform. Your best bet is to see a recruiter. |

the tattoo cannot cover more than %25 of the exposed area (arm, leg) in any uniform including PT gear. And it cant be offensive |
