Can i get my Military ID before I go through basic training?

Just enlisted in the Navy a month ago. My IPod is on its way out and wanted to buy a new one (hoping to get the military discount). I'm assuming i need the Military ID and is it possible to get one before basic training or am i just going to have to wait to get a new ipod? any help would be appreciated thanks :)
btw i would call the recruiter but im sick of talking to the guy, plus its really late

NO ! your not military until you pass basic.
The DEP'r below may need to check his facts. To my knowledge a DEP I.D. will not get you in. Could be wrong? we never tried to go to the Exchange |

well, your in the DEP , so I assume you should have received a DEP ID.
but, you won't actually receive your military ID until you get to Great Lakes.

Yes you can. I got mine 2 months before I left for BCT. Ask your recruiter to take you to the closest id card distributor so you can get yours done. |

The two poster above me are wrong, as soon as you enter the DEP in any military branch you get a military ID. |
