ok, people always "ohhh your just a internet badass" or "ohhh your just a keyboard commando" but im seriously wanting to be airborne infantry, and will do anything to land that job, im doing the split option program and i want to know if i can have 11b or 11x while in school?

Unfortunately, 11B isn't a split option MOS. You go to BCT then straight to AIT upon graduation. Normally if you had another MOS in split option you would go to BCT, then finish your senior year of high school, and then go back after you graduate for AIT.
You can still sign up for the job while in high school, but for 11B, you will not be able to actually go to training until afterwards. |

last i checked OSUT doesnt have a split option program. i could be wrong though.
you can be an airborne qualified 11b in the nasty gaurd (active doesnt do split op), theres a difference between being airborne qualified and being a paratrooper (aka airborne infantry if your 11b/11c) though. and there arent any airborne infantry units in the NG. 82nd, 173rd, a brigade from the 25th...thats all the airborne infantry units out there. if you want to be a true airborne infantryman, not jsut some weekend warrior 5 jump chump, then wait until your out of highschool and go active.
update: also the army reserves does not have combat arms positions. |

You cannot join the military while you are still in high school. At least not active duty. |

Split options have to sign up through the Army Reserve. Army Reserve does not have combat arms. Most combat arms schools are OSUT (one station unit training) anyway, so you can't do a split option for most combat MOSs. I would suggest maybe getting a Reserve contract, complete BCT and AIT through the split op program then change to active duty and reclass in a combat mos. Good luck! |
