The only way you can retire at ten years is medically - you have to be hurt to do that. Military retirement is 20 years and you get 50% of you high three years of base pay.

You get nothing at 10 years except maybe an award and handshake.

There is no "retirement" until 30 years. If you get out after 20, you still get money but it is called a retainer. After 30 it's the same money but it is then called "retirement" There is no 10, 15 or 18 year "retirement". However about 10 years ago the military realized that people that were doing a lot of years (but not hitting 20) had nothing when they got out, so they implemented TSP (Thrift Savings Plan), it's basically a 401K for the military. Service members that get out can then roll their TSP into traditional 401K's

These things are fact, not guesses
Hope it helps

You retire from the military when you become handicapped, or are wounded severely in combat. Retirement doesn't come after 10 years. SERVE YOUR COUNTRY!!!
