Active duty, veterans and their dependents should use USAA.

Well, it's their company, so they can make whatever rules they want. And you did close your account. So they have to open a new one, with all of the paperwork and stuff.
Did you tell them you were a soldier? What company do you use? As a soldier, have you looked at USAA? They have the absolute lowest auto insurance we have ever found. With USAA, our auto insurance with TWO cars is cheaper than with the other company we were with with ONE car. Seriously. They also have great renters insurance. |

No vet should ever use any insurance company except USAA. |

Rates are going up everywhere. USAA is great insurance, do you have them? I would highly suggest you call and find out about them. Any insruance company will admit USAA is the best. I guess your asking because they did this? Wow NOT nice. Please accept my appology for you being treated so badly. I appriciate your service, and I am also glad to hear you are home. God Bless you. It is an honor to try to help you. |

Do a search and find out what other companies will charge you. If they are less, call you insurance company and see if they will match these rates. If not, dump them and go with the lower rate. |

Personally I'd use USAA. But try calling a supervisor and explaining the problem, many companies like to at least appear friendly to military customers. They may reinstate the policy at the prior rate, sometimes it's just a matter of finding someone with either the authority or the spine to make the decision. |

Shop for a better rate at a different company.
There are probably some programs for veterans.
And thank you for your service to our nation. |

You are a new customer. You cancelled, and when you chose to take out a new policy with the same company they viewed you as a new customer.
This is why, in the long run, it is better to deal with an agent rather than to try to do it yourself with on line coverage. For the few dollars a year more you might have paid through an agent, this is exactly the kind of crap they could tell you how to avoid. |

if their regs state that if you do not have a policy with them for x number of months you are treated as a new customer, then yes they have every right to charge you a higher rate. as long as it is across the board policy and not just for servicemembers who let their lapse.. they are not in violation of SSCRA. |

I agree with the general consensus. If you are a vet I would use USAA.
If you want to be charged the same price as an old customer and not a new customer I would go with Landa.
My dad was in the Iraq War (1) and that's who he uses now.
Both companies are great. |

If you have a problme with your insurance company, I would think you can get help from the military. What you're saying doesn't seem right.
Also, why don't you try usaa.com |
