Can retired military collect unemployment?

My friend retired several years ago from the military and went back to work for a large company. A few weeks ago he was laid off. My question is, can he still qualify for unemployment while he looks for another job since he receives a retirement check?

Yes, It does depend on the state how long you have to be out of the Military and working to earn Unemployment benefits.
In FL you must be working for Five full quarters to receive full benefits.
Some states it varies from 12-24 months.

Yes, he can if he has been retired more than two years and subsequently employed.

Depends on the State you reside in. There are States that will pay out unemployment (full amount) and than there are States (such as Nevada) that will reduce the unemployment check based upon your retirement payment.
