Can somone help me about college credits for AIR FORCE?

Ok i asked this question earlier but i didn't get a GOOD answer. I have over 20 college credits but less than 30...Earlier somone said after basic i would be and E-3, and some said i would be an E-2. My question is: if most already jump up to E-2 after basic training anyways, would i jump to E-3 instead of E-2 because of my college credits, or is it pointless to get my transcripts because I'll already be and E-2 after basic anyways. Somone who knows what there talking about please give me some input. Where will i stand after basic if i have over 20 college credits?

Mustang- Thanks. Its not that i didnt' believe you on my previous question, it's just others were saying different answers than yours. Anyways thank, and i guess i'll be going in as and E-2.

If you have at least 20 college credit, you will be an E-2 upon graduation from Basic. If you have at least 45 credit hours, you will be an E-3 after graduation. Just make sure your recruiter has your transcripts.
I don't know who told you that all E-1's are promoted to E-2 after Basic. That is not true at all. If you enter as an E-1, you will get E-2 after 6 months of being an E-1. Check out this website to help you better understand the rank promotions:

E-1 through E-4 are automatic promotions based on Time In Service and/or Time in Grade.

You will enter as an E-2, like I said before. Sorry you don't believe me. My husband entered as an E-3 with a Bachelor's degree. |

In basic training everyone starts as an E-1 and gets treated the same way. The week you graduate your TI (drill Instructor) will print out a rip showing everyone who is eligible for a higher rank. Your last week of basic every one that qualified for a higher rank either through college, their guard unit, or being an Eagle Scout sews on said rank. If you have over 20 semester hours you will put on E2(1 stripe) during your basic training graduation week. Even If you are under the amount of credits needed to sew on higher rank, save your transcripts because after tech school, when you get to your first duty station you can go to the education office on base and start a file. This will put the credits towards a bachelors degree program while you take classes on base or off base. I |

When I went in back in 99, college credits didn't matter. It was based on whether you signed up for 4 or 6 years. IE=4-year enlistment you get E-2, 6-year enlistment jump to E-3.
You need to talk to your recruiter. He/ She will know your situation and be able to answer any questions that you have. Best of luck! |
