People want overnight results. They are gung-ho for a few months but then it gets too difficult, too costly (like any war is cheap) or they are afraid they might have to really put up or shut the h*ll up and make a personal sacrifice like so many other brave Americans have done.
Immediately following the 9/11 acts of war, you could have caught a cold from the flags being waved by both sides, now, the insults, petty childish hate and epithets hurling is harming everyone, mostly our military people doing this dirty job. |

The Korean war continues to this day as well, so I guess that Americans support that one too.
Most Americans supported Iraq in 1990, but many opposed the way that Dubya ended the war via invasion. And, quite frankly, most have jumped on that bandwagon in an effort to gain political power, or because they just think that it's the cool thing to do. |

The key words to your question are "ever again".
There has never been a war where the US was involved that involved the blessing of the vast majority of Americans.
Why do you think it took so long to get involved with WWII? Why are people still saying Roosevelt knew about Pearl Harbor, and did nothing to stop it.
My grandma says there were many anti-war people during WWII, they just didn't have the means (technology) to make their objections known. |

Imagine this hypothetical:
A suitcase nuke goes off in DC, sets the entire country on panic. Martial law is imposed, the Constitution's last tattered remains are laid to rest. The nuke is blamed on Iran, and "evidence" is hawked on all the airwaves to "prove Iranian complicity in this horrific attack". You can take it from there.. |

Yes, when the desired outcome is clearly articulated and the enemy is easily recognized.
Americans like wars like WWII or even Korea where the agressor is clearly identified and the desired outcome is evident. Even Korea suffered a little from a lack of decisiveness when MacArthur suggested nuking Korea. |

If the war is acknowledged as necessary, of course it would. Few to no one opposed either World War like they are this. The only other war with opposition like this, that I can think of is Vietnam. But something tells me for bringing this up, I'm gonna get a couple of people attacking me. |

The vast majority blessed the invasion of Afghanistan and rightly so. I would still bless it if it contained any element at all about finding and capturing OBL, but sadly it no longer does. |
